He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 61

On the drive back to the office, Sebastian Hayes received a call from Grace Dale.

He furrowed his brow, waiting patiently for her to finish speaking. Whenever Grace called, it was inevitably to complain about Helena Wallace. It was an open secret that she despised her daughter-in-law.

"Just look at your wife. She has absolutely no respect for her elders," Grace complained bitterly. "It's bad enough she comes from nowhere, but at least she used to be obedient and knew how to greet us properly. Now look at her. She doesn't visit on weekends, doesn't even bother to call during the week. She has completely stopped taking me seriously as her mother-in-law, hasn't she?"

Sebastian replied with a cool, indifferent tone. "You never treated her like a daughter-in-law to begin. It's perfectly normal that she doesn't treat you like a mother-in-law."

"You—" Grace sputtered, growing even more furious. "Let me tell you, if it weren't for your grandfather's shares, I would have kicked that woman out of the house ages ago. She hasn't even given us an heir. If this were any other era, she would have been tossed out on the streets by now!"

"Mom, are you done? I'm very busy." Sebastian had zero patience for her tirades.

"What's the rush?" Grace completely ignored his irritation. "Sebastian, Janetta is pregnant now. You and Helena are about to hit your seventh anniversary. Just divorce her and marry Janetta. After all, Janetta is carrying the Hayes family's grandson in her belly."

Grace rambled on, completely unapologetic. Between the two women, she naturally favored Janetta Ramirez, even if she disapproved of Janetta's career in the entertainment industry. But that was a minor detail; once they married, Janetta could just retire from the spotlight.

Janetta was a graduate of a prestigious university. While she didn't come from top-tier old money, her family was wealthy enough. She was beautiful, had a sweet mouth, and most importantly, she was obedient and docile. Unlike Helena, who refused to utter a single flattering word and acted like a mute.

To make matters worse, Helena was now refusing to even pay her respects to the family, all while remaining childless after seven years of marriage. These mounting grievances fueled Grace's burning hatred for her.

"I'm putting my foot down. You must divorce Helena! The Hayes family has no room for a woman like her!" Grace declared, her anger escalating.
