He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 657

Cheryl nodded quickly and hurried off with Skye, who thankfully followed without a fuss.

Helena composed herself and strode confidently out the main doors.

The moment the reporters spotted her, they surged forward like a tidal wave.

She didn't flinch, meeting the frenzy with absolute calm.

Microphones were thrust into her face as rapid-fire, aggressive questions rained down on her.

"Ms. Wallace, if the child is indeed a member of the Campbell family, why were the two of you photographed at his private residence?"

"You spent the night at his villa! What exactly happened between you two?"

"Are you the other woman in his marriage?"

...

The accusations flew thick and fast.

Facing the onslaught, Helena maintained a serene, polite smile. She didn't look bothered in the slightest.

"Any other questions?" she inquired pleasantly when the yelling finally died down.

Her utter lack of defensiveness caught the press off guard, leaving them momentarily speechless.

She nodded gracefully. "First, regarding the villa. My niece was feeling unwell that night. She hates hotels and was acting very restless. I happened to be dining with Mr. Hayes at the time, and he generously offered the use of his empty property nearby so she could rest comfortably. I asked her if she wanted to go, she agreed, and so we stayed there."

Her tone was perfectly measured and entirely reasonable.

She presented it as a simple matter of fact.

A carefully constructed half-truth.

She smoothly transitioned to the next accusation. "Which brings me to your second question. Even if we were alone and somehow overcome with passion, do you honestly believe we'd do anything with a sick child in the very next room? My priority was caring for her. Besides, kids have big mouths. If she had seen anything inappropriate, the whole world would know by now."

The crowd fell silent, entirely disarmed by her logic.

When she addressed the final question, she actually let out a light laugh.

Intimidated by her sudden shift in demeanor, none of the reporters dared push further.

Sebastian's bodyguards cleared a path, and her car smoothly pulled away from the curb.

The press was left standing in the dust.

When she arrived back at her suite, Skye was already there.

Her eyes swept across the living room, coming to a dead stop when she saw the mountain of toys taking up half the floor. She masked her shock instantly.

These were the exact same toys from his living room. Had he seriously shipped them all over within an hour?

Skye was too busy playing to notice her right away.

"You're back!" she cheered, looking up with a beaming smile.

Helena stared down at the extravagant pile, her lips parting slightly.
