"Sebastian," she murmured faintly.
"I'm here. I'm taking you to the hospital," he coaxed in a low, soothing voice.
Skye simply nodded weakly.
The fever had painted her small face a terrifying shade of crimson.
Helena grabbed her things and followed him out without missing a beat.
The black SUV tore through the main thoroughfares of Coralia.
In less than fifteen minutes, they pulled up to the hospital entrance.
Helena had already called the doctor while on the road.
The medical team was waiting for them at the doors.
Skye was immediately rushed into the observation room.
Standing outside, Helena suddenly realized her palms were slick with cold sweat.
The sheer terror of the situation finally broke through her composed facade.
"Careful." Sebastian's hand naturally settled on her waist, steadying her trembling frame.
She looked up at him, momentarily stunned.
But she didn't say a word.
He didn't seem to have any intention of letting go, either.
His deep, resonant voice washed over her. "There's no need to worry now that we're here. These doctors know her condition inside and out."
Helena murmured an agreement.
She carefully twisted out of his firm grip.
He shot her a cool glance but kept quiet.
"Sebastian... thank you for helping me bring her here," she finally said, breaking the heavy silence.
His expression was entirely unreadable as he stared her down. "And now you plan to burn the bridge after crossing it?"
The bluntness of his question caught her off guard.
An awkward flush crept up her neck.
He was exactly right—that had been her exact plan.
She just hadn't expected him to call her out so ruthlessly.
For a moment, she couldn't find the words to respond.
"Has anyone ever told you how vicious you are, Helena?" His tone suddenly turned aggressive.
Her eyes widened in shock.
Right here, in the middle of a hospital hallway, he had her pinned.
He kissed her deeply, punishingly hard.
Even though it was the dead of night, the hospital wasn't empty.
Doctors and nurses were still on duty.
Anyone could walk by and see them at any moment.
This was Coralia.
She knew exactly who she was and what was at stake.
Snapping out of her daze, she immediately began to struggle.
But he afforded her no room to fight back.
The harder she resisted, the more dominating he became.
He cornered her at every turn, leaving her completely defenseless.
Her breath grew ragged and short.
Muffled sounds filled the quiet air, constrained by her fear of being heard.
