He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 974

After a brief hesitation, Helena answered the call.

At the very least, there was no deep-seated resentment between her and Xavier Zane; her issue was with the situation, not the man himself.

Sebastian saw the caller ID too but remained silent.

When Helena answered, she didn't speak immediately.

Xavier didn't initiate the conversation either.

A heavy silence stretched across the line.

"Xavier, did you need something?" she finally asked, cutting straight to the point.

She heard a heavy sigh from the other end.

Then, Xavier's voice came through. "Can we talk?"

She didn't agree right away, taking a moment to weigh her options.

"It won't take much of your time," he added quickly.

There was a raw desperation in his voice.

It was a far cry from the proud, aloof professor she knew.

After thinking it over, she replied, "Alright."

Xavier didn't waste a second and quickly gave her the address.

"I've booked a private room at this restaurant. Let's meet at noon, is that okay?" he asked, waiting for her approval.

She murmured an agreement.

They didn't exchange any pleasantries before hanging up.

She already knew exactly why he was reaching out.

Naturally, having this conversation in a private room was infinitely better than arguing in public.

Once she put her phone down, Sebastian finally spoke. "Xavier wants to talk about Jocelyn?"

"I'm not entirely sure, but most likely. I can't imagine what else he'd want to discuss," she said flatly.

"I'll go with you," he stated.

She didn't argue.

She knew that when people were desperate, they were capable of anything.

Having Sebastian there wasn't a bad idea.

Especially since she still couldn't move easily. If things went sideways, she literally wouldn't be able to run away.

Given the circumstances, she had no reason to refuse.

The conversation ended there.

Sebastian finished breakfast with her.
