"You are completely delusional!"
Julian wanted to reach across the table and shake Sebastian until his teeth rattled. "There are millions of women out there! Women who would kill to be with you! Why does it have to be Stella?! Can't you just obsess over someone else? If Jarrod finds out, you're both dead to each other. Is she worth nuking a twenty-year brotherhood?"
Sebastian didn't flinch. "Just pretend you never saw us. Once Jarrod and Stella finalize the divorce, I will go to Jarrod myself and tell him I'm pursuing her. Whether he accepts it or tries to kill me, I am not changing my mind."
"You—you—!"
Julian choked on his own outrage. Staring at Sebastian's terrifyingly calm, unyielding expression, he realized there were no words left that could pull him back from the ledge.
Furious and completely helpless, Julian grabbed his beer and drained half of it in one vicious gulp. "Fine! I'm officially washing my hands of this! I won't run to Jarrod and tattle, but if he somehow finds out and asks me point-blank, I am not lying to him!"
Sebastian kept his eyes on his drink, his voice low and heavy. "Thank you."
Julian slumped back in his chair, completely torn on whether he was making the biggest mistake of his life.
He suddenly remembered joking with Jarrod about Sebastian being hopelessly entangled with a married woman, and how he had eagerly volunteered to threaten the husband into a divorce.
Julian seriously wanted to punch himself in the mouth.
He knew this was a ticking time bomb. The explosion was inevitable, and when it went off, the fallout would be catastrophic, but he had no idea how to defuse it.
Ugh.
Julian groaned internally, bitterly regretting his insatiable need for gossip. If he hadn't played detective, he wouldn't be sitting here harboring the most radioactive secret on earth.
If he had just stayed oblivious, he could be sleeping soundly right now.
Telling Jarrod now would just detonate the bomb early. All he could do was pray that Sebastian would magically wake up one morning, realize this was insanity, and let Stella go.
