Julian trailed off. Watching Jarrod sit there with a completely blank, impenetrable expression, he suddenly lost the will to keep preaching.

Before last night, Julian would have done anything to help Jarrod fix his marriage and keep Stella. But after hearing Sebastian's brutal breakdown at the bar, Julian realized that Jarrod and Stella barely functioned as a married couple.

Jarrod was impossibly arrogant and domineering, while Stella was an emotional vault who just swallowed her resentment to keep the peace.

It made total sense why Stella wanted a divorce. Forcing them to stay chained together honestly seemed cruel.

"You know what, Jarrod? Figure it out yourself. I'm out of here."

Julian stood up to leave, but Jarrod's voice cut through the air, icy and authoritative. "Sit down."

Julian practically had a Pavlovian response to that tone. He immediately dropped back onto the sofa.

"What is your problem today? Did someone put you up to this?"

Jarrod's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Why are you suddenly launching a crusade for Stella's honor?"

"Look, Jarrod, just chalk it up to me being a nosy idiot," Julian deflected, forcing his usual cocky grin.

Jarrod studied him like a hawk. Julian was definitely hiding something. Beneath the forced laughter, Jarrod could see real anxiety and frustration bleeding through.

"Spit it out. Now," Jarrod demanded.

Julian let out a defeated sigh. "I just hate seeing you two in a cold war, especially when you're sitting here acting like you have all the time in the world. It stresses me out!"

Knowing Julian lived for gossip, Jarrod figured he was just dying to know exactly why Stella had walked out on him.
