Finley didn’t have a dime to his name.

But every month, he had to pay for his grandfather’s nursing home.

Broke and desperate, he had no choice but to take the job.

When he tame back to campus to grab his stuff from his old office, he tried to hidehat pulled low, mask covering his face. But some sharpeyed student spotted him.

Trash started flying. Banana peels, bottlesone after another, smacking into him. The students cheered.

Mr. Hayes, you’re the best! You’re Crestwood Prep’s pride and joy! Hahaha!.

The other teachers in the office covered their mouths, snickering, watching him like he was a circus act.

Finley kept his head down, fists clenched so tight his knuckles went white. Humiliation burned through him. He grabbed his things and ran.

As he left, he ran straight into Tinasurrounded by a mob of students, trapped.

She grabbed his sleeve, desperate. Mr. Hayes, help me. Please. I’m scared.

The second she called him, Finley ripped his arm away like she’d burned him. He shoved through the crowd and ran.

Tina screamed after him. Mr. Hayes! Mr. Hayes, please! Why won’t you help me?!

Karma had come full circle. Tina was now everyone’s target.

Word got out that Finley was cleaning toilets.

Students flocked to watch. To mess with him.

Most of them were the rich kids he used to bullythe ones he’d always called society’s tumors.

Finley grew up dirt poor, raised by his grandfather.

He clawed his way into college while rich kids barely lifted a finger to get into the same schoolthey had the best resources handed to them on a silver platter.

It ate him alive. He started hating anyone with money.

When he first met me, he looked disgusted. But he couldn’t resist my wallet for long.

So he took every dollar I gave him while despising people like me.

And every time he saw those rich kids? He saw himselfand hated them even more for it.

He’d pick on them in class, humiliate them, sometimes even curse them out.

Chapter 9

Their parents never complainedout of respect for his position.

But now? That was over.

A disgraced janitor with no morals? Fair game.

Seven or eight boys deliberately poured water all over the floor Finley had just mopped. It pooled everywhere.

hen they angled higher, aiming for his hands. Piss splashed all over his fingers.

One of them kicked over the trash can full of used toilet paper. Wet, filthy scraps stuck to the floor.

Finley’s neck veins bulged. His eyes were bloodshot. But he stayed silent, wiping his hands.

The ringleader laughed.

Wow, Mr. Hayes, when did you get so humble? But hey, you know the drillyou touch me, and you’ll be scrubbing toilets for the rest of your life to pay it off.

His eyes dropped lower, smirking.

Oh, and one more thingthat woman of yours seemed like she was faking it. Maybe I should take over for you! Hahaha!

That was it. Finley snapped..

He lunged at the kid, fists flying.
