Chapter 96
Td love that. I said, spreading a colorful tablecloth over the sleek dining table. I arranged plates and glasses as Amy pulled ing
from the bags we’d brought
Soon, the kitchen filled with the aroma of spices and the sound of Amy’s cheerful instructions as she showed me how to prepare a simple Colombian beef stew. The sizzle of onions and the rhythmic chopping of vegetables created a comforting soundtrack that made the space
feel lived–in for the first time.
After the kitchen, I moved to the study. This room, I knew, needed special attention. Remembering Finn’s reading struggles, I arranged a comfortable reading chair with perfect lighting and set up a small collection of audiobooks on the shelf. I placed a few language learning materials discreetly on the desk, alongside some beautiful notebooks and pens.
I trailed my fingers across the smooth desk surface, imagining Finn sitting here, learning and growing more confident. The thought made
me smile.
The bedroom was the last space I approached, and I hesitated at the threshold. This felt more invasive somehow, more personal. The room was dominated by an enormous bed with black sheets and a simple gray comforter. Like the rest of the house, it was elegant but sterile–a room designed for sleeping and nothing else.
I decided to keep my changes subtle here. I replaced the bedding with equally high–quality but softer sheets in a deeper charcoal gray, and added just a few decorative pillows that could be easily removed. On one of the pillows, I sprayed a light mist of lavender essential oil -just enough to help with sleep but not overwhelming.
Standing at the doorway, I looked back at the bedroom. It still maintained Finn’s minimalist aesthetic, but now had a touch of warmth and invitation that was missing before.
By sunset, the entire villa had been transformed. The harsh edges remained, but they were softened by warmth and color. The cold showroom had become a welcoming home.
Amy and I sat at the dining table, enjoying the delicious stew she had prepared. The rich flavors were comforting, and I found myself imagining future dinners here, with Finn sitting across from me.
“You’re somewhere else right now,” Amy observed, breaking into my thoughts.
I blushed, caught daydreaming. “Sorry, I was just thinking about… everything.”
“About Finn,” Amy corrected with a knowing smile. “You’ve put so much effort into this place. Are you going to tell me what’s really going on between you two?”
I stared at my plate, unsure how to answer. “I don’t know exactly. It’s complicated.”
“That man has enough red flags to start a parade,” Amy said bluntly. “But I’ve also seen how he looks at you when he thinks no one’s watching.”
