By the time Nina finished, she was drenched in sweat.

Ryan pulled out a tissue and gently wiped the sweat off Nina’s brow. He asked softly, “How’s Grandma doing?”

Nina looked serious and replied, “Her life’s been saved, but if we can’t identify the souree of the poison, it won’t help.”

The Soul-Stealing Thirteen Needles could snatch someone back from the Grim Reaper, but the poison was still lingering in Sarah’s body.

They had to get the poison out.

“Grandma’s blessed, she’ll pull through,” Ryan said softly, feeling useless. ‘If only I knew medicine, I could actually help Nina,’ he thought, frustration gnawing at him.

Nina just pressed her lips together and stayed silent.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. Someone said, “Mr. Foster, it’s me.”

Ryan got up and opened the door.

A group of people filed in one after another.

The man at the front strode straight up to Ryan and Nina. He said, “Mr. Foster, Ms. Swanson.”

Nina was surprised to see him and the group behind him. She asked, “Felix?”

Felix replied, “I got Mr. Foster’s call and rushed right over. These guys are the Institute’s top masters; they’re here to assist you. All picnic attendees are being questioned, and my team is on it; we’ll have answers shortly.”

Nina shot Ryan a look. Felix was the one Ryan trusted most.

Ryan had sent him out on an assignment not long ago, and Felix wasn’t supposed to be back until the end of the year.

For Ryan to call Felix back now, whatever he was working on outside must be on pause.

Nina paused for a moment, then said earnestly to Ryan, “Thank you.”

Ryan sighed and said, “Your thanks just make me feel even more ashamed.”

Ryan thought, ‘Besides these, I can’t help with anything else.’

Nina pressed her lips together, just about to speak, when someone suddenly said, “The Soul-Stealing Thirteen Needles? Isn’t that the Miracle Doctor’s signature technique?”

Nina looked up and saw Louis excitedly talking to Ryan, “Mr. Foster, you actually brought in the famous Miracle Doctor? Why would you even

need us old folks? If she’s here, even the toughest cases can be handled.”

Ryan shot Nina a look and said, “You explain.”

Nina nodded, not wasting any time. She said, “I’m the Miracle Doctor. I’m certain my grandma’s been poisoned, but the type eludes me. With your expertise, you may recognize it. Please examine her.”.

Nina was confident in her medical skills, but when it came to Sarah, she couldn’t take any chances.

Nina couldn’t get in touch with Scarlet right now, so she had no choice but to work with Louis and his crew. Maybe together, they could actually figure it out.

“Miracle Doctor? Is that really you?” Louis stammered, his voice shaking with disbelief. Oscar and Paul just stared, eyes wide in shock.

None of them could have imagined that the legendary Miracle Doctor was actually just a girl, barely out of her teens.

These three had seen their share of miracles, but after a moment, Paul let out a sigh apd said, “The younger generation really is something to be reckoned with.”

Then, the three of them shook off their surprise and zeroed in on Sarah’s condition.

The deeper they checked, the more their faces changed-shock and worry creeping in with every passing minute.

Finally, after what felt like ages, all three of them stood up together.

Louis spoke up first, “Mrs. Swanson’s definitely been poisoned. I’ve seen something like this in ancient medical texts; it’s kind of like Heartbreak Grass, but not exactly.”

Oscar nodded and said, “I agree, Heartbreak Grass is highly toxic and lethal within two hours. But according to the Miracle Doctor, Mrs. Swanson started showing symptoms the day before yesterday, so we can probably rule that out.”

“I’m thinking it might be Thunder Vine,” Paul said. “But there’s still something weird. With both Heartbreak Grass and Thunder Vine, once the poison hits, the patient usually passes out. But Mrs. Swanson’s still awake; she just can’t talk.”

Sarah’s eyes had been open the whole time since she was poisoned, she just couldn’t say a word.
