Sarah blinked in surprise. She asked, “Wait, wasn’t the party hall booked under Ryan’s name?”

Maria replied, “No way it was under his name.

“About half a month ago, he tried to help Nina book the top-floor party hall at Grand Crest Hotel. He had it booked at first, but then the hotel called to cancel and even gave him ten times the compensation.”

Maria glanced at Nina with a smile and continued, “Ryan was so mad. He tried everything, pulled every string he could, just to get you the top-floor party hall for your birthday. But no matter what he did, the hotel wouldn’t give in.

“It wasn’t until Nina sent out the invitations that we finally realized: she was the one who actually locked down the top floor.”
