Chapter 222

Chapter 222

Nina had just returned to her room and was about to take a shower when someone knocked on the door.

She opened it to find Martin standing outside.

Nina leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. “What do you want?”

“This is for you,” Martin said, handing her a jewelry box. “The bracelet was crafted by Yannick. It’s not quite on Lanelle’s level, but hey, it’s just a little something from me.”

Martin paused for a moment before saying, “Nina, I know I’ve messed up before, and I hope you can forgive me.

“Lily’s been part of our family for years, and when I suddenly found out she wasn’t my real sister, I just couldn’t accept it. That’s why I kept picking on you.

“But no matter what happened between us, family is family. You can’t change that.”

Martin pressed his lips together. “I just hope we can get along from now on.”

Nina opened the box, and the diamond bracelet inside sparkled. She smirked, her tone teasing, “A 3-million bracelet…”

If this had happened before, Martin would’ve been surprised that Nina could spot the price tag right away.

But now, he wasn’t fazed at all. “Compared to what Lanelle gave you, this is nothing. Consider it my apology.”

Nina closed the box. “Thanks.”

Since Martin was still standing there, Nina raised an eyebrow. “Anything else?”

Martin hesitated, and then said, “Keep an eye on the Lowell family. I caught wind they’re planning something against Grandma.”

He paused, and then added, “I’m not as resourceful as you. Keeping Grandma safe is up to you.”

Nina laughed, her smile radiant and a little wicked. “She’s my grandma. Of course I’ll keep her safe.”

“Alright, get some rest,” Martin said.

Nina watched Martin’s back as he walked away, her smile deepening.

Just then, Ethan, who’d been hanging out by the stairs, strolled over and eyed the box in Nina’s hand. “Damn, Martin really went all out this time. Nina, don’t tell me you actually fell for his sweet talk?”

Nina gave him a sideways glance and handed over the jewelry box. “It’s yours now.”

Ethan grinned. “This thing’s worth 3 million. You really gonna pass that up?”

Nina just shot him a look.

“Fine, if you don’t want it, I’ll just cash it in,” Ethan said, stuffing the box into his pocket.

Nina rubbed her temples. “You’ve already taken a fortune from e. Don’t tell me you still need money?”

“Come on, give me some credit,” Ethan said. “I signed a deal with Ryan. Our company’s new project is going live soon, and the promo’s about to kick off.

“If nothing goes wrong, we should be turning a profit in a month tops.”

“Why bother selling the bracelet then?” Nina asked.

“Come on, it’s Martin’s stuff. Don’t you think it’s kind of dirty to keep it around?” Ethan said, totally unfazed. “I’d rather sell it for some cash than let it mess up my place.”

Nina nodded with a straight face. “Smart move.”

“But seriously, do you really buy what he said about the Lowell family going after Grandma?” Ethan suddenly asked.

Nina narrowed her eyes, a hint of disdain in her voice. “You really think that kind of petty stuff is worth worrying about?”

Ethan froze, confused. “Wait, what’s that supposed to mean?”

Nina didn’t answer him. She just said, “Get some rest.”

As soon as she closed the door, her phone rang.

Nina picked up.

“Ms. Swanson, there’s a Mr. Nicholson who wants to book the party hall at Grand Crest Hotel,” the caller said.

Nina’s lips curled into a faint smile. “Send me his number.”

After hanging up, Nina quickly got a message from an unknown number.

She fired up her laptop and started typing away, her fingers flying across the keyboard.

Half an hour later, Nina finally stopped.

She got up, poured herself a glass of water, and then sat back down, her eyes locked on the red dot on her screen. A wicked smile spread across her face.

She thought, ‘Betrico…

‘Now that’s the perfect place for the real players to hide.’

A few days later, Nina’s welcome party went off right on schedule

The whole thing was held in the standard party hall on the third floor of the Grand Crest Hotel.

But honestly, even the most basic hall at Grand Crest Hotel was ill fancier than anything one’d find at other places.

Everyone else from the Swanson family was already at the party hall, way ahead of time.

Since they had to play host and welcome the guests.

Nina was still getting her makeup done, so she’d be showing up bit later.

Ryan had arranged the makeup team.

Nina was about to refuse, but Ryan wouldn’t take no for an answer, so she just went along with it.
