“Yes,” Anna sighed. “I just can’t figure out what Waverly is thinking. I don’t expect her to do anything for the Swanson family, but at least she shouldn’t come back and stir up trouble.

“If the Swanson family is doing well, things will be easier for her with the Chase family. But if the Swanson family goes under, who will she have left to lean on?”

Anna really couldn’t wrap her head around Waverly’s logic.

Back then, Sarah was against her marrying into the Chase family, but Waverly was dead set on it. To get her way, she even slipped Victor something.

Ever since Waverly threatened suicide to force her into handing over those shares a few years ago, Sarah had written her off as a daughter long ago.

Sarah was out of the loop in Riverdale, and only learned about all this when Maria came to visit her.

Just thinking about Waverly made Sarah so mad that she couldn’t stand it, so she forced herself to let it go and asked, “Still haven’t gotten to the bottom of Lily’s background?”

“Not yet,” Anna replied, her brow furrowed. “It’s honestly bizarre. At first, we suspected Lily might be Vivian’s illegitimate child, but after extensive investigation, there’s absolutely no blood relation between them.

“Then we thought maybe she was from the Lowell family, so I had someone sneak in and collect DNA samples from everyone there, but none of them were related to her at all. It’s like Lily just appeared out of thin air.”

Sarah narrowed her eyes. “Keep changing up the testing centers. If Betrico doesn’t work, try somewhere farther away. I want you to run tests at every lab in the country if you have to.

“I refuse to believe Vivian would go out of her way for someone who isn’t even family.”

“Yes, Mrs. Swanson,” Anna replied.

“And one more thing, bring in some extra bodyguards. Make sure everyone in the family is well protected. If Waverly can’t get anything out of me, I’m worried she’ll try something with the others,” Sarah said.

“Got it,” Anna replied.
