Miranda nodded, then turned to Loren and Cheney and said, “H, Grandpa. Uncle.”

She had no clue what was happening, but if Nina said so, she’d just roll with it.

‘Good girl, you’ve had it rough,” Loren said, wiping away a tear.

Cheney’s eyes were misty, too. “We came in such a rush, I didn’t get a chance to bring you a present. Once we’re out of the Hawthorne residence, I will get you something nice.”

William had just come downstairs and overheard. His expression darkened as he hurried over. “Nina, you’re really taking Miranda away?”

“What, you got a problem with that?” Nina replied, her voice cold as ice.

“No, it’s just that Miranda is still part of the Hawthorne family. Toesn’t seem right for you to just take her away.” William said. “And if my dad wakes up and finds out you took her, he’s no going to be okay with that.”

Nina snorted. “He should worry more about how the Hawthorne family is going to explain themselves for the way they treated Miranda”

She didn’t even spare William a glance, heading straight for the ning table and taking a seat.

The servants had already laid out the food.

William had instructed them to have everything ready ahead of time.

He had no idea when Nina would wake up, so he told the staff to prepare breakfast early. Just in case she got up hungry and ended up annoyed.

Miranda sat down beside Nina, still feeling like she was dreaming

She’d only been back at the Hawthorne residence for half a moth before Edward got sick, and after that, things went downhill fast. She hadn’t even had a decent meal, let alone sat down for a proper dinner at the table.

She never imagined she’d ever get to eat at the table in the Hawthorne residence again.

The screams from the kennel outside kept echoing, but it was like everyone inside had gotten used to it.

William and his brothers felt sorry for David and the rest, but once they realized Nina wasn’t actually going to kill anyone, they finally stopped worrying so much.

Nina ate her meal at a leisurely pace, while everyone else sat in lence.

Everyone kept their mouths shut, mostly because no one wanted to risk speaking up, not knowing what Nina had planned for today.

Whether Miranda actually picked up anything from Nina’s lessons, nobody could say, but those lessons stuck with the rest of them for life.

Honestly, it was almost laughable. Most of them were old enough to be her parents, maybe even her grandparents, and yet this young girl had schooled them all.

“Nina.”

Suddenly, a weak voice drifted over from the staircase.

Everyone turned to see Edward making his way down the stairs, supported by the staff.
