Loren froze. “Why?”
“I need you to help me catch the rat,” Nina replied.

At the main house of the Swanson family, Vivian and Lily left after dinner. Nobody had any idea what they
were up to.
Lately, they’d been acting all mysterious, heading out early in the morning and not coming back until late at night.
Sarah had made plans to meet up with some old friends and left with Anna.
That left only Martin, Matthew, and Waverly at the main house.
Waverly was in her room, plotting how to sneak out, when she heard someone knocking at the door.
She opened it and saw Martin and Matthew. Her brows furrowed tight. “Are you crazy? What if someone catches you here right now?”
Martin and Matthew didn’t say a word. They just barged in.
Waverly frowned, scanning the hallway. The servants were all off duty, and nobody was around upstairs.
She breathed a sigh of relief and hurried to close the door.
Waverly walked into the room and saw Martin and Matthew staring at her with stone-cold faces. She shot them a glare. “Why are you looking at me like that?
“If you two weren’t such useless idiots and ever did anything useful, would I have gotten caught by them?”
Martin sneered. “Waverly, come on. Are you still playing dumb at a time like this? I knew our plan was airtight. So if it blew up, it had to be you.
“Were you trying to suck up to Nina and pocket all the cash for yourself? Smooth move.”
Originally, they’d only planned to get 300 million.
But thanks to Waverly’s little stunt, she effortlessly scored 1.2 billion from Nina. Now that’s a killer deal.
Waverly’s face darkened. “What crap are you talking about? You actually buy whatever that brat Nina says? She was the one who kept pushing to transfer the money.”
Martin shot her a sharp look, his eyes glinting. “Oh, is that so? Then tell me. Why would Nina give you money?
“Waverly, did you really think I didn’t know what you did to her when she was little? Or do you think she’s just

gonna let it slide?”
Waverly’s brows knitted. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Martin scoffed, “Nina remembers my mom dragging her out to the mountains and dumping her. So you really think she’d just forget what you did to her as a kid? She’s been gunning for us ever since she got back, out for payback.
“But then she just hands you 1.2 billion like it’s nothing? Waverly, that’s 1.2 billion, not pocket change. Even if Nina is running SN Corporation, she wouldn’t just throw that kind of cash at you for no reason.
“If you didn’t give her something she wanted, why would she be so eager to pay up?”
Waverly was fuming. “How the hell should I know what she’s up to? And for the last time, I didn’t tell Nina about this. Believe whatever you want.”
Matthew slouched in his chair with that cocky grin. “Fine, then cough up the money.
Waverly’s face darkened.
Whatever scheme Nina was running, now that the cash was in her hands, there was no way she was giving it back.
Martin saw right through her. “Waverly, we’re all in the same boat here. If the factory gets busted, we all have to pay up, including you. Don’t even think about backing out halfway. If we get exposed, you’re not getting away either.”
Waverly gritted her teeth. “Are you threatening me?”
“Just giving you a friendly reminder. Don’t forget, your hands aren’t clean either. If one of us goes down, we all go down,” Martin replied, his tone flat.
Waverly’s eyes narrowed with a sharp glint. After a moment’s thought, she said, “600 million. Take it or leave it. Otherwise, we all go down together.”
“Deal,” Martin agreed without hesitation.
Martin thought, ‘300 million is enough to cover the compensation.
‘Now that we have an extra 300 million, we could keep things rolling.
‘As for Waverly, someone so unpredictable is just too much of a liability. She couldn’t be kept in the game any longer!
Meanwhile, Waverly was thinking coldly to herself, ‘Those two brothers are as good as dead.
