Ryan’s fate was still up in the air, but no matter what, they had to make sure nothing happened to Nina.

Even though Maria was busy organizing the search, she was a nervous wreck, pacing anxiously around the room. “If anything happens to Nina, how will I ever explain this to Sarah?”

Grace stepped forward and gently supported Maria, trying to calm her down. “Mom, don’t worry. The authorities are taking this very seriously, and Wylder has already sent people out. We should hear something soon.”

“How can I not worry?” Maria said anxiously. “It’s all because she was trying to help Ryan that she got targeted.”

Grace fell silent.

Once Grace got the news, she immediately called Simon to find out what was going on with Nina.

Simon said Nina had gone out to the Betrico outskirts to retrieve something, and someone started chasing her down.

Whatever she went to get must have something to do with Ryan

So basically, Nina was targeted because of Ryan.

Nina had said Ryan probably wouldn’t make it.

And if anything happened to Nina, too….

There’s just no way they could face Sarah.

Maria let out a sigh. “We might not be able to do much else, but we can definitely help out with the money. Charles, get the funds ready. If anyone needs financial support for the search, well back them up.”

Grace whipped her head around, her expression icy. “Nina’s in trouble and you’re actually happy about it?”

Sophia shrank back at Grace’s glare, quickly ducking her head to hide the excitement in her eyes. “I-I’m not happy!”

“Not happy?” Grace snapped. “Do you think I’m blind? Can’t I see exactly what’s going on with you?”

Sophia had never seen Grace this scared before. She mumbled, Mom, why are you acting like this? You’re really freaking

me out.”

“Listen up, Sophia,” Grace snapped. “I’ve let you act all spoiled because you’re the favorite, but if you ever dare joke about your sister-in-law’s life again, you’re out of the Foster family for good. Don’t even dream of coming back!”

Sophia looked hurt. “It’s always about Nina with you. Mom, can you stop favoring her for once? I just got here, didn’t say anything, and you’re already on my case. I didn’t spread any rumors about Nina; I just heard it outside. Why blame me?”

“Oh, I’m playing favorites?” Grace shot back. “Nina risked her life for your brother, and you think I’m just favoring her?”
