The masked man glanced at Nina and let out a low chuckle. “Alright, I’ll be waiting for your good news, Ms. Swanson.
After a brief pause, he added, “But I’m curious, if Ryan really doesn’t make it back, what are you planning to do?”
“I’ll send a special present to whoever hurt him,” Nina arched a bow, a sly smile tugging at her lips. “The gift is already on its way. Get ready to receive it.”
The masked man laughed. “Alright, I’ll be waiting for your gift.”
He said nothing more and walked out.
Outside, Walter followed the masked man, speaking cautiously. Boss, getting Nina here wasn’t easy. Why not push her to start on the formula right away? Frank’s orders are clear: we need that formula for the first batch of clones.”
The masked man shot Walter a sideways glance. “Do I need to explain myself to you?”
Walter lowered his head. “No, Boss, I wouldn’t dare. It’s just… about Frank…”
The masked man narrowed his eyes. “I’ll talk to Frank myself.”
“So, what about Nina?” Walter asked, a bit unsure.
“Make sure she gets the best food and drinks,” the masked man replied.
Walter looked surprised. “But I get the feeling Nina’s planning to make a run for it!”
He hadn’t thought she could break out of here before.
But after talking to her face-to-face, he started to have doubts.
He realized Nina wasn’t joking when she said she could get out of here.
She really could make it out.
“Oh,” the masked man said coolly. “If she manages to escape, it just proves you’re all useless!”
Walter was speechless.
“Go check on Ryan’s whereabouts. If he’s really dead, then whatever. But if he’s still kicking, help him out,” the masked man said coolly. “Just make sure he never shows up in front of Nina again.”
Walter opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, he kept quiet.
The masked man’s mood was all over the place. If he said anything else, he might just piss him off.
Forget it.
As long as Nina’s still here, it’s fine.

Meanwhile, at Betrico Airport, Elaine and Ethan had just stepped out when they spotted Simon’s car waiting for them.
Elaine didn’t hesitate; she just opened the car door and got in.
Ethan, anxious about Nina’s safety, quickly asked, “What’s going on? Any news about Nina?”

Simon glanced at Ethan in the rearview mirror, about to answer when Elaine cut in, “When are we leaving?”
“Tonight, Simon replied.
Ethan blinked, confused. “Leaving? Where are we going?”
Elaine ignored him and turned to Simon. “Is everything ready?”
“Three trucks. Should be enough,” Simon replied.
Elaine nodded. “Alright. Keep the chaos going outside. We’ll leave tonight.”
Ethan was totally lost. “What are you two even talking about?”
“Going for the kill tonight. You in?” Elaine said casually.
Ethan’s eyes went wide. “Going for the kill?”
Elaine smirked. “That’s right! We’re heading deep into the mountains to collect some heads. You coming?”
“Wait, I thought we were supposed to be looking for Nina?” Ethan’s face went pale; the word ‘kill’ really freaked him out.
‘Is Elaine talking about actually killing people, or is this just gamer talk?’ Ethan wondered.
“Nina’s been captured. We’re going into the mountains to rescue her. There are a ton of guards, so there’ll be plenty of them to kill,” Elaine explained.
Ethan’s jaw dropped. He was speechless.
‘Oh my god!’ Ethan thought.
‘She’s talking about literally killing people!”
‘Are they really going to make people die?’
Elaine shot Ethan a playful grin. “Or you could just stay home and wait for news. If everything goes smoothly, we’ll be back in a few hours.”
“And if it doesn’t?” Ethan’s voice was trembling.
“If things go sideways, we’ll probably die out there. You can come collect our bodies and toss our ashes to the wind,” Elaine said, totally unfazed.
Ethan just stood there, utterly gobsmacked.
