Ryan glanced at Nina, who was still asleep. He said, “I’ll never let her down.”

Maria nodded and said. “I spoke to Sarah yesterday. She fully supports you and Nina; since you’re both sure, she thinks you should get engaged soon. She feels she owes Nina and just wants her happiness.”
Maria looked at Ryan, asking, “What do you think?”
“Get engaged?” Ryan replied. His lips curled into a faint smile. “That’s not going to be easy.”
Ryan thought, ‘Forget whether Nina even wants to get engaged. Vincent finds out I’m planning to propose, he’ll probably go ballistic.
He wanted everyone to give their blessing to him and Nina, so as not have anyone causing drama.
Before even thinking about getting engaged, he had to handle Vincent first.
“Yeah, that’s true,” Maria said. “Nina’s incredible; there are plenty of people interested in her. Getting engaged won’t be that simple. Let’s put this off for now. No matter what, you need to see how Nina feels about it first.”
Ryan nodded and said, “Mm.”
Grace sat next to Ryan and said, “Deal with Claire first; she’s been pushing Sophia to provoke Nina. I warned the Goodwins, but Claire won’t stop. If Nina gets angry enough, she might leave you.”
Ryan turned to Sophia, asking, “Did you mess with Nina?”
He hadn’t been home, so he had no idea what had been going on
Nina never bothered to tell him about stuff like this.
“I…” Sophia stammered. She lowered her head, so scared she couldn’t get a word out.
In this family, she was afraid of nothing except Ryan.
Just one look from him, and she’d be scared out of her wits.
Ryan gave her a cold look and said, “You’re confined in the basement.”
As soon as Sophia heard that, she burst into tears.
Every time she got in trouble, Ryan would send her to the basement.
She’d have to stay there for a whole day and night, her knees numb and aching, like they were about to break.
She hated nothing more than being sent to the basement.
Grace gave Sophia a sideways glance, saying, “What are you waiting for? You want Ryan to blow up?”
She had always spoiled Sophia way too much.
She let her run wild.
These past few days, they’d all been so busy with Ryan that nobody bothered to deal with Sophia.
But that didn’t mean she’d forgotten how happy Sophia looked when she found out Nina was in trouble.

After all, Sophia had always been Grace’s cherished daughter, and she’d never once made her in the basement. Grace couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt.
But since Ryan had already made the call, she wasn’t about to step in and plead for her.
Messing around with someone else’s life isn’t just some harmless quirk, Grace thought. If Sophia keeps this up, she’s going to get burned one day. She really needs to learn her lesson.
Sophia wanted to explain herself, but the moment she saw Ryan’s stormy face, she clammed up and bolted out of there.
Not long after Sophia left, the four elders of the Foster family chatted with Ryan for a bit before heading out.
They wanted to spend more time with Ryan, but figured the young couple deserved some space.
With their own roles and obligations, Ryan and Nina barely had any time for romance.
So they decided to let them make the most of this rare chance to be together.
Not long after the four old folks from the Foster family left, Nina finally woke up.
Just as she opened her eyes, her phone and Ryan’s started ringing at the exact same time.
They shot each other a look and answered their calls.
Nina’s call was from Wylder.
Ryan’s was from one of his bosses.
Nina hung up and looked at Ryan. She said, “Mr. Quentin just asked me to drop by.”
Ryan nodded and said, “Good timing. One of my bosses is coming to see me soon anyway. Go ahead, I’ll take care of things
here.”
Nina gave a quick reply and headed over to see Wylder.
Wylder was already waiting for her.
When Nina walked in, he motioned for her to sit and asked the maid to get some water.
