‘But right now, she had more important things to deal with.

‘Besides the serum, what else is going on?

‘Do the higher-ups know about this?

‘And then there was Riggs.

‘Who’s really pulling the strings behind him?’

Nina had a gut feeling that the mastermind behind all this was someone familiar, someone close to her.

He probably knew her every move, like the back of his hand.

He might even know her better than she knew herself.

She felt like she was being led around by the nose, completely at his mercy.

Nina knitted her brows, then pulled out her phone and dialed Wylder.

The call connected fast, and Nina didn’t waste any time. She said “I need to see Iris, whatever it takes. I have to see her.”

She didn’t let Wylder get a word in and continued saying, “If I don’t see Iris, the serum’s out of my hands. It’s your move.”

They’d pretty much cracked the formula for the serum, just one last step left, and only Nina could pull it off.

Wylder was silent for a long moment before finally sighing. He replied, “I’ll see what I can do.

After hanging up, Nina turned to Simon. She said, “Let Elliott know he can take the next step.”

Simon nodded and replied, “Got it.”

“Has the Newton family got any parties coming up?” Nina asked.

Last time, Nina was supposed to go to the Newton family’s party but she was worried about Ryan in Frontierland. Just when she was about to head out there herself to look for him, Zaire cathe back.

She saved Zaire, then got pulled into a trip to Sherman Manor.

After that, she ended up in Hillcrest.

With everything that had happened, she really hadn’t had a chance to even think about the Newton family’s party.

“The Newton family’s party was called off last time. They’ve moved it to three days from now,” Simon said.

Nina raised an eyebrow, asking, “Canceled?”

Simon nodded and replied, “Apparently, Mr. Newton fell ill out of the blue, so they had to cancel it at the last minute.”

Nina’s lips curled into a faint smile. She said, “Mr. Newton exercises daily, you know. Out of all the old guys in Betrico’s top families, he’s probably the healthiest. And now he suddenly falls 11? Really?”

“That’s what the Newton family says, but I checked the hospital records. He never went to the hospital at all,” Simon replied.

Nina’s smile grew even wider. She said, “Looks like they’re throwing this party just for me.”

Last time, she missed it because something came up, and the Newton family ended up canceling the party right then.

They were obviously waiting for her to show up.

Since that was how it was, there was no way Nina was going to miss that party.

Nina opened the window and said, “The Newton family’s working with the Nicholson family, and so is the Goodwin family Every time we look into serum thing, the Nicholson family is involved. So, what do you think their role is in all this?”

Simon thought for a moment, then said, “Nina, I keep feeling like someone’s watching us from the shadows, and they know us way too well,”

He paused, then said, “Actually, it’s more like they know you like the back of their hand. They understand your personality, how you operate, and they’re guiding you step by step right into a trap.”

Nina leaned back in her seat, her head tilted to one side as she gazed out the window at the scenery rolling by.

It seemed like her instincts were spot on.

If even Simon could pick up on it, that only confirmed someone was keeping tabs on her.

Nina’s smile deepened. She said, “If they expect my usual rule-breaking, I’ll play by the book this time. Contact our Riverdale team. Support Mrs. Swanson in settling the Lowell farily’s affairs. It’s time she finally met Lawrence.”
