The Jensen residence was decorated tastefully, exuding an air of understated luxury.
The sliding glass doors that separated the living room and the yard had been opened, enabling the event to proceed in a semi-open-air concept. An event planning company had been hired to handle the decor, event agenda, and catering.
Although the Grays frequently attended all manner of events, they couldn't help but feel envious when they saw how lavish the Jensens were with this banquet.
When Rachel saw the young men from elite families walking around, she instinctively straightened up to show off the most beautiful side of herself.
For this event, she pestered Francis into getting her the latest haute couture gown from the brand, Blu. It was a strapless princess gown layered with tulle.
As she also had a little tiara on her head, she did indeed look like an actual princess. Plus, she was also smiling sweetly. As a result, when she entered the house, many eyes fell on her.
Alas, before she could try to promote her charms even further, everyone had withdrawn their gazes. She even noticed the flicker of scorn as they looked away.
Rachel was a little dumbfounded. She didn't know what was wrong with her appearance.
She certainly didn't know that after she and the Grays went further in, a young woman in black who stood in the corner snorted.
"Who is she? Which family is she from? Doesn't she know who the star of tonight is? Why is she wearing a tiara? Does she think she should be the center of attention tonight instead?"
Another guest chimed in, "She looks a bit familiar, but I don't recall who she is."
"Wasn't that the head of Gray Corporation? How did the Grays end up on the invitation list for the banquet?"
The other guests weren't the only ones who noticed the Grays. Even Adrian was a little stupefied when he saw the Grays walking toward him.
Who let them in?
Adam was the one who took over Jensen Corporation, and Adrian had always been Adam's most loyal supporter. Even his family followed suit. Janice knew that Adam held the Grays in contempt, and in all honesty, she also had little regard for them.
She eventually found out that, despite being known as the Grays' daughter, Shannon had always been groomed to become Rachel's lackey. When they were in school, Shannon had to wait on Rachel, carrying her bag and buying her food.
Due to Rachel's poor health, she often had to go to the hospital for checkups, and Shannon had to accompany Rachel the whole time to take care of her.
It sounded like a touching story about an older sister looking after her younger sister, but it wasn't as if the Grays couldn't afford to hire a caregiver. Why would they need one of their daughters to wait on the other one?
Shannon was hospitalized after rescuing Rachel, yet the Grays were not only ungrateful, but they even kicked her out of the family empty-handed.
Truth be told, Adam wouldn't have hurriedly investigated these matters if Sheila hadn't exposed her attitude toward Shannon when she came over yesterday.
