Chapter 126 Pick Us
That actually made her a bit excited.
On the other hand, the remaining 3.8 acres were all strawberries!
Right now, they were definitely the farm’s star crop.
Each strawberry carried 200 to 300 seeds,

She had started from just two rotten strawberries she’d found. First, she planted them on 0.06 acres, and from there, the seeds just kept multiplying nonstop.
Once she realized that a single strawberry could sell for a sky–high price of 100 stellar coins, she didn’t worry at all about expanding the strawberry fields.
In her mind, stopping at 3.8 acres was already holding back enough.
The real issue was manpower. Clearing land just wasn’t keeping up with how fast the seeds multiplied. Compared to the massive spiritual fields she’d had in her previous life, these plots barely counted.
But she knew it was only a matter of time.
“Alright, kids!” Elizabeth clapped her hands and called out to the children picking up stones. “Gather around! I’ve got a job for you. Pick all the bright red peppers and bean pods in this section. Leave the rest alone. Got it?”
“Got it!” The children cheered happily. Led by Selina and Timothy, they ran off toward the pepper and bean pod fields with their little baskets, chattering nonstop.
Paul and his mother joined in as well.
Once the kids were settled, Elizabeth looked over at Tiffany, who was checking on how Scarface and the others had done.
Elizabeth said directly, “Tiffany, split half the people off to work full–time on turning the soil.”
Tiffany nodded immediately. “Getting ready for the next crop batch?”
“Exactly.” Elizabeth’s eyes swept over the trembling free laborers. “We’re running out of cleared land. Tell them to hurry and finish the rest of the wasteland.”
“Got it,” Tiffany said, walking over to the crew and calling out names and jobs.
Isaac, Milo, and the rest had once been the invisible nobody types in the Black Rats.
Back when they followed their so–called boss, the name sounded scary enough. But in reality, they lived like strays, never knowing if they’d survive the next day.
Every day, they were either robbing weaker scavengers or getting shoved into fights as disposable pawns/3

The real benefits never reached them.
Going hungry all the time had become normal. Worse, they always feared dying on the garbage mountain
at any moment.
Life seemed wild on the surface, but it was really just a dark, endless pit. They had no hope for the future and just dragged themselves through each numb day.
But ever since Elizabeth captured them and forced them to work on the farm, their lives had been thrown onto a totally different path.
At first, fear and anger ruled their every move. Under the pressure of that she–devil, they had no choice but to obey and work.
But bit by bit, a sense of order and stability they’d never known before started to grow in the endless grind.
As long as they did what they were told and finished their tasks, they got a bottle of liquid supplement to fill their stomachs every single day.
If they did well or reported something useful like before, they could even score extra rewards—maybe even valuable sedatives.
That was far better than risking their lives in the gang while still going hungry half the time.
Sure, the work was tough, but at least no one was threatening to kill them at every turn.
Every day, they could count on surviving if they just did their part. That simple, clear kind of “fairness” was something they’d never felt before.
Without realizing it, their hearts had already shifted.
What began as a reluctant “I have to work” had gradually become a genuine “I want to work.”
Somewhere deep down, they realized that as long as they did their best, Elizabeth–harsh but fair- wouldn’t screw them over.
This land could end up being a surprisingly safe spot for wandering souls like them.
So when Tiffany came by and said that half of them would have to take on the even tougher job of turning the soil, Isaac, Milo, and the others shot their hands up without hesitation. Some even looked almost excited.
“Pick us, Mrs. Loffe! We can handle it!”
“That’s right! We’ve been secretly watching how people work the soil–we totally got this!”
And they weren’t just bragging.
They had actually been sneaking glances at how the townsfolk in Hope Town worked the fields, learning every little thing.
