Elizabeth stared at the long string of zeros that had suddenly appeared in her account and froze.
What was going on?
Since when was the kingdom government this considerate?
Before she could figure out where this sudden windfall had come from, the same “Unknown Source” communication request rang again, just as persistent as before.
Elizabeth hesitated for a moment, then accepted the call.
It was the same clerk.
This time, though, the official tone seemed to carry a trace of barely restrained helplessness. “Ms. Schofield, the funds should have arrived. Given your special circumstances, the government has approved this transportation subsidy. Please make sure you arrive on time.”
With 100 thousand stellar coins sitting in her account, Elizabeth was genuinely tempted.
But the thought only lasted a second before she flatly refused. “No. It’s not enough.”
The clerk replied, “Ms. Schofield, I have checked A private spaceship from your sector to Centria Planet costs well within 100 thousand stellar coins.”
“One way is enough,” Elizabeth shot back confidently. “But I have to come back too. A round trip should be 200 thousand, right?”
Another suffocating silence followed.
After quite a while, the clerk spoke again, patiently explaining in a voice that sounded close to exhaustion. “Ms. Schofield, according to the Kingdom Marriage Act and the Supplementary Special Amnesty Decree, once your marriage to General Hewitt is officially established, your previous exile sentence will be automatically pardoned. Your citizenship will be restored, and you may legally reside in any sector of the kingdom. There will be no need for you to return to the exile planet.”
Elizabeth knew all of this perfectly well.
Back when she first learned about the forced pairing, she had read the Kingdom Marriage Act several times from start to finish.

She just had never taken the forced marriage seriously.

In her view, staying on the quiet Garbage Planet to farm and make money, then applying for a dissolution once the one year term expired, was the optimal solution.
“Oh, I know,” Elizabeth replied calmly. “But what if I just like living on Garbage Planet? Is that not allowed?”
The clerk fell silent again.
He had clearly never encountered someone weird enough to willingly give up a pardon just to return to Garbage Planet.
Another long silence followed. Faintly, Elizabeth could hear lowered voices on the other end, as if the clerk were asking for instructions.
Finally, the clerk spoke again, sounding utterly defeated. “After an emergency review, special approval has been granted. The full round–trip transportation cost of 200 thousand stellar coins has been paid. Please check your account. And please make sure to arrive on time.”
Almost the moment he finished speaking, Elizabeth’s device chimed again. Another 100 thousand stellar coins had been deposited.
Looking at the full 200 thousand stellar coins in her account, Elizabeth immediately broke into a wide smile. Her attitude did a complete 180 degree turn, and her tone became extremely cooperative and sincere. “Officer, don’t worry. Ten a.m. the day after tomorrow, First Marriage Registration Hall on Centria Planet. I’ll be there on time, absolutely. I promise
trouble.” not to cause the government any
With two hundred thousand stellar coins safely in her account, Elizabeth stared at the number, her mind racing with thoughts of what she could buy. How much stuff she could buy. Whether it would be enough to hire people to build a house. Whether it would be enough to buy a private spaceship. The one thing she didn’t think about at all was actually booking that expensive private spaceship.
No joke. Two hundred thousand stellar coins could buy her a ridiculous amount of energy
stones.
How could she waste it all on travel?
Still, she had taken the money, and she could not go back on her word.
After a lot of thinking, turning it over again and again, she finally came up with a brilliant free ride plan.

The garbage recycling station on Garbage Plane A001 made regular trips back to the kingdom sector every few days.
They transported compressed recyclable materials to the waste processing facility on Kingdom Planet, then continued on to the Centria Planet freight hub for resupply and equipment maintenance.
If she could hitch a ride on that ship, it definitely wouldn’t cost 200 thousand stellar coins.
Once she had the idea, she acted immediately.
Elizabeth looked up the public customer service contact for the garbage recycling station and placed a call.
