“To be honest, I still don’t fully understand it myself,” Cristian said. “But I saw that thing’s power with my own eyes. And the the Fifth Military lost… that was reat.”
He paused briefly.
“If there really is a problem with that technology, then the First Military would be the first to take the hit. We’re the closest.” Trevor looked at him, a trace of satisfaction flashing through his eyes.
“Looks like you’ve finally learned to use your brain,” he said.
Cristian did not respond.

After listening quietly for a while, Zaylee finally could not hold herself back anymore. “Can the two of you stop talking about work the moment you see each other? I’m trying to discuss my son’s lifelong happiness here!”
Trevor glanced at her calmly. “Isn’t that what we’re discussing?”
“This counts as discussing?” Zaylee shot him a glare. “This is an interrogation!”
For once, Trevor’s lips curved slightly upward.
Ignoring him, Zaylee turned back toward Cristian. “Cristian, let me tell you something. Girls like Eliza are hard to find. Pretty, capable, responsible, and able to manage such a huge farm so perfectly… Do you know how sought–after a wife like that would be?”
Cristian remained silent.
“If you don’t hurry up,” Zaylee continued, “someone else might snatch her away. By then, you’ll regret it so badly you’ll cry.” Cristian’s lips moved slightly, as though he wanted to say something. But in the end, he only said, “She won’t get away.”
Zaylee froze. Then her eyes lit up instantly as laughter burst from her lips.
“Oh?” she drawled teasingly. “You’re that confident?”
Only then did Cristian realize what he had just said. The tips of his ears reddened again.
He did not explain himself. Instead, he calmly said, “Mom, if there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.”
“Wait, wait, wait!” Zaylee hurriedly stopped him. “There’s one last thing.”
Cristian looked at her.
This time, Zaylee put away her teasing smile and spoke seriously. “From now on, Eliza and that farm of hers are part of the Hewitts‘ responsibility. Anyone who bullies her is bullying the Hewitts. That’s your father’s position. And mine too.”
Then she added softly.
“You should pay more attention to her from now on.”

Cristian was silent for several seconds.
“…Understood,” he said
The communication disconnected.
The command cabin fell quiet once more.
Cristian remained seated where he was, staring at the darkened screen while his own words echoed repeatedly through his mind.
She won’t get away.
How had he even managed to say something like that?
Rubbing lightly at the space between his brows, he rose to his feet and walked toward the viewing window.
Outside, the stars glittered brilliantly.
Far away in the endless sea of space, the tiny planet known as A001 rotated silently beneath the starlight.
He stood there looking at it for a long time.
Until his adjutant’s voice came through the device.
“General Hewitt, the fleet is fully prepared. We’re ready to depart at any time.”
Cristian finally withdrew his gaze.
“Return to the capital planet according to the original schedule.”
“Yes, sir.”
He turned and headed for the cabin door.
But just before stepping out, he suddenly paused and glanced back at the star–filled sky beyond the window.
That planet was still there.
The corners of his lips lifted ever so slightly. Then he walked out.
Meanwhile, back in the Hewitt Castle living room…
Zaylee leaned against the couch, grinning like a cat that had stolen a fish.
Trevor picked his documents back up and shook his head helplessly at the sight of her expression.
“What exactly are you so happy about?”
“Of course I’m happy.” Zaylee sounded completely justified. “Didn’t you hear what he said? She won’t get away.‘ What does that mean? That means possessiveness! That means he cares!”
Trevor fell silent for a second.

“That’s it?” Zaylee glared at him “Don’t think I’ve forgotten how you acted when you were chasing me back then. Didn’t you say something even more ruthless?”
Trevor calmly lifted his teacup and took a sip, concealing the faint embarrassment of having old stories dragged out.
“That girl, Elizabeth, really is excellent,” he said.
Zaylee immediately looked proud. “Well, obviously!”
Trevor did not answer. He simply set down his cup and stood up.
“I’m heading back to the study.” he said.
After taking two steps, he paused again.
“Tell that brat,” he said without turning around, “not to just talk about it. He should actually do something.”
Zaylee blinked for a second before laughing loudly again.
“Fine!” she shouted toward his retreating back. “I’ll definitely pass the message along!”
Trevor ignored her completely and walked into the study, shutting the door behind him.
Zaylee reclined against the couch, the smile on her face growing wider and wider.
Mercury Plaza had been deserted for a long time now.
Ever since the shipping route had been cut off several months ago, Tycoon Farm had been forced to suspend its stall there. The once lively little plaza seemed to have lost its soul overnight.
Occasionally, a few old customers would still wander over out of habit, circle around the empty stall area a few times, sigh regretfully, and then slowly leave again.
Later, after the plaza changed ownership, the entire area entered a prolonged period of reconstruction.
The old, worn buildings had been torn apart into scattered remnants, while the new ones had yet to rise. Everywhere was ringed with construction barriers and strewn with building materials.
Foot traffic had dropped by nearly 80%. Even the occasional passerby only hurried through without lingering.
Wallace was the one exception. He came every single day.
Today was no different
At 6 in the morning, just as the sky began to brighten, he left home as usual.
His wife called after him from behind. “Wallace, you’re going again? That Tycoon Farm owner isn’t coming back to set up shop anymore!”
Without even turning around, he waved dismissively. “I’m just going to take a look. Just taking a look.”
