Wallace did not know himself

During those few months, he came to Mercury Plaza every single day without fail. He would stand for a while where Elizabeth’s stall used to be, chat with a few familiar regulars, then quietly head home again.

Later, the major shipping companies restored the route operations, but the Tycoon Farm owner still never returned. Many of the old customers stopped coming too. Instead, they simply took transport ships straight to Planet A001 and visited the farm itself.

But Wallace still came.

Every day, he would stand on that empty patch of ground for a while.

Sometimes for half an hour at a stretch.

His wife said he had become obsessed. He did not argue with her.

And today, as ever, nothing was different.

As usual, Wallace stood silently in that familiar spot, looking at the newly renovated plaza that had already finished reconstruction, and let out a quiet sigh.

Those days back then had been so good.

Lining up early in the morning to buy sweet potatoes and potatoes, chatting and laughing with the others waiting in line beside him.

Wallace was just about to reply when he suddenly heard the roar of engines in the distance.

He looked up and froze.

Several hover vehicles were approaching from afar in a neat line, steadily driving toward the plaza.

The models looked strangely familiar. It was a small passenger transport vehicle. And on the sides, there seemed to be some kind of logo…

Wallace narrowed his eyes, trying to see more clearly.

The hover vehicles drew closer and closer before finally stopping directly in the plaza.

The doors opened. A group of people stepped out.

Leading them was a young woman dressed in practical work clothes, her long hair tied into a ponytail as she directed the others unloading supplies behind her.

Her movements were quick and efficient, her voice crisp and clear. “Fiona, go check whether the water and power are connected first! Erin, take your team to set up the display racks. Make sure to keep them in order!”

Wallace’s eyes widened more and more.

That figure. That voice. That…

He rubbed his eyes hard. Then rubbed them again.

He had not mistaken her.

It was Ms. Schofield.

It was Ms. Schofield from Tycoon Farm!

A surge of heat shot straight to Wallace’s head, making his legs weaken slightly.

Steadying himself against a nearby railing, he hurried toward her. Faster and faster. Until he was almost jogging.

Schofield!”

“Ms. Schofield!” he shouted, his voice cracking from excitement. “Ms. Schofield!”

Elizabeth had been speaking with Fiona. Hearing someone call out to her, she turned around.

The moment she saw Wallace’s flushed, emotional face, she paused briefly before breaking into a smile.

“Mr. Lichtden!” Her eyes curved into crescents. “What are you doing here?”

Wallace hurried over to her, breathing heavily, unable to speak for several seconds.

He looked at her. At this young woman he had not seen for months. He suddenly felt his eyes grow hot.

“I–I came every day…” he finally managed to squeeze out. “Just to check… to see whether you’d come back…”

The smile on Elizabeth’s face deepened.

“Sorry to have kept you waiting,” she said gently. “I’m back now.”

Wallace nodded so hard it looked like his neck might snap.

“Good! Good!” he exclaimed repeatedly. “As long as you’re back! I knew it!! knew you’d definitely come back!”

Turning around, he watched Fiona and the others busily setting up display racks and connecting equipment. He watched familiar crates marked with the Tycoon Farm logo being taken one after another from storage buttons. And finally, the heaviness that had sat in his chest for months slowly faded away.

Rows upon rows of neatly arranged display stalls soon spread across the center of the plaza.

And those racks, they were still the same old ones. Wooden shelves painted light green, their corners slightly worn from use but scrubbed spotlessly clean.

Wallace stared at them, his eyes heating up again.

“They’re still the old stall racks…” he muttered softly. “Why are there so many now?”

“Sharp eyes, Mr. Lichtden. They really are the original racks.” Elizabeth replied with a smile and a nod. “Our farm grows more produce now. Besides the potatoes, sweet potatoes, and strawberries we used to sell, we’ve added all kinds of new fruits and vegetables too. So naturally, we needed more display racks.”

Wallące turned back toward her. His mouth opened and closed several times before he finally asked the question he had been holding back the entire time. “Ms. Schofield… are you really reopening the stall here?”

Elizabeth looked at him, smiling so brightly her eyes curved again.

“Of course,” she said. “Same old hours. We open at 9.”

Then she tilted her head slightly, a playful glint in her eyes. “So, Mr. Lichtden… will you be stopping by?”

Wallace froze for a second.

Then he nodded so firmly and decisively it startled the people nearby.

“Of course I will!” he declared loudly. “I’ll be the first one here! I’ll come every single day!”
