Chapter 573 Mining Planet
Elizabeth picked up her coffee and took another sip.

“They’ll come. They’re in a bigger hurry than we are.” She set the cup down and leaned back in her chair. “We have six of their people, along with the evidence. If this reaches the Military Inspection Committee, the Fifth Military won’t just lose people–they’ll lose their reputation. And they can’t afford that.”
Sure enough, early the next morning, the Fifth Military called again.
This time, it was someone else.
It was the director of the Fifth Military’s Legal Affairs Office, Weston Erhart, a lieutenant general.
Weston was far more experienced than Caspian. He spoke calmly and politely, but there was no the firmness behind his words.

“Ms. Schofield, what happened yesterday was our fault. On behalf of the Fifth Military, I sincerely apologize.” Weston apologized first, keeping a humble attitude. “But the public apology and handing the case over to the civilian courts are beyond our authority. Could we settle this another way?”
Elizabeth looked at him and thought for a moment.
“Mr. Erhart, let’s hear your proposal.”
Weston was quiet for a few seconds.

He said, “We can issue an apology within the military, but not make it public. As for Gunther, we guarantee he’ll be tried by a military court, and you may send representatives to observe the trial. As for compensation, name your price.”
Elizabeth shook her head.
“I don’t want money. I want something practical.”
Weston froze for a moment.
“What do you mean by ‘something practical‘?”
Elizabeth picked up her cup and slowly took a sip.
“I’ve heard the Fifth Military owns many energy mining planets. Just give me one of them.”

The other side of the screen fell silent for a long time.
Weston’s expression changed, as if someone had grabbed him by the throat.
“Ms. Schofield, do you realize what you’re asking? Energy mining planets are major military assets. They can’t be transferred to private ownership.”
Elizabeth set down her coffee.
“Then we don’t have anything to talk about.” She reached to end the call again.

Chapter 573 Mining Planet
“Wait!” Weston said through gritted teeth. “I need to report this to my superiors.”
Elizabeth nodded. “I’ll wait.”
After the call ended, Desmond couldn’t help asking, “Boss, what if they refuse?”

Elizabeth smiled. “They’ll agree. That mining planet doesn’t produce much, so it’s not very useful to the Fifth Military. But for me, it’s in the perfect location. It’s right between Planet A001 and Centria Planet. Once we own it, it’ll make a great supply stop for shipping goods to Centria Planet.”
Desmond fell silent. “Boss, were you after that planet from the very beginning, not the compensation?”
Elizabeth didn’t answer. She only smiled.
Three hours later, Weston called again. He looked exhausted, as if he had just finished a long and difficult negotiation. “Ms. Schofield, my superiors have agreed. The energy mining planet will be transferred to you. In return, you must drop your demands for a public apology and for Gunther to be handed over to the civilian courts.”
Elizabeth thought for a moment. “Fine. But Gunther must be dismissed from the Fifth Military and never be allowed to rejoin. Evander and the others who attacked my people must be demoted and transferred out of their current positions. I want to see the official paperwork.”
Weston clenched his jaw. “Fine. When will you release them?”
Elizabeth stood up and walked over to the window, looking out at the wide fields of green. “Sign the transfer agreement first, then send me the written disciplinary orders. Once I confirm everything is in order, they can leave anytime.”
Weston took a deep breath. “Alright. It’ll all be done within three days.”
After the call ended, Elizabeth stood by the window and smiled. From this day on, that energy mining planet belonged to her.
Fifth Military Headquarters, Chief of Staff’s office.
Gregory sat behind his desk. After listening to Weston’s report, his face turned frighteningly dark.
His fingers tapped against the desk. Tap. Tap. Tap. The sound echoed through the silent office.
“One energy mining planet to get back six useless idiots,” he said softly, the words slipping through clenched teeth.
He looked up at Weston. “That farm owner sure knows how to drive a hard bargain.”
Weston lowered his head and didn’t dare say a word.
Gregory was silent for a long time.
Then he suddenly smiled. The smile sent a chill down everyone’s spine.
