Chapter 599 The Returning Swarm
The Swarmborn’s eyes suddenly widened.
It knew that silhouette too well.

It was Aebi.
The Aebi they had been searching for. The Aebi that had gone silent for more than half a month with fifty elite units.
It was standing there, wearing human clothing, speaking with a human. Its movements were natural, its expression relaxed– completely unhurried, as if it had always belonged there.
“Aebi!” one of the Swarmborn blurted out, its voice filled with shock and relief. “Aebi is still alive!”
Several nearby Swarmborn immediately pressed closer, peering out through the window.
It really was Aebi.
They’recognized that face.
In Swarmborn form, Aebi’s shell had been dark brown and covered with spikes.
But when it took human shape, that was the face he had.
He had strong features, a deep skin tone, and a sharp jawline.
Now, he wore a light green work uniform, listening slightly sideways to the human beside him. His expression was calm and focused, like an ordinary farm employee receiving instructions from a supervisor.
The swarm erupted.
“Aebi is with the humans! It’s alive!”
“I knew it! Aebi wouldn’t go missing so easily! It must have succeeded in infiltration!”
“But… something feels wrong…” the first Swarmborn murmured, its voice suddenly lower.

It stared at the figure outside, at the employee badge shining on his collar, and felt something it couldn’t quite name rising inside.
Aebi was wearing human clothes, and he was wearing them properly.
His hair had been cut short. It was longer than it used to be in the nest, but clearly maintained with regular grooming, neat and
clean.

His smile was light and natural-his eyes gently curved, lips slightly lifted, like someone reacting to an ordinary joke.
The Swarmborns didn’t smile like that.
Their smiles, if they could even be called that, were feral, violent-baring mouthparts and sharp teeth in warning.

But Aebi’s smile was warm and human. It was carrying something the Swarmborns could never understand-something called happiness.
“No way,” one Swarmborn said firmly. “Aebi would never side with humans. Since ancient times, there has never been a Swarmborn who betrayed its kind.”
“He must be under coercion!” another said urgently. “Humans are best at deception. They must have drugged him, or controlle his broodline…”
“Or he’s a fake!” a third added quickly. “Humans can use genetic tech to mimic Swarmborn appearance and scent. That Aebi m be an impostor!”
This theory quickly gained traction.
Fake. It had to be fake.
Aebi couldn’t have betrayed the Swarmborns.
He was a veteran who had killed thirty human soldiers in battle, and also one of the most steadfast warriors among them.
How could he possibly stand in human clothes under the sun, smiling like that?
