Chapter 608 Nothing Found

Silas didn’t look their way again and simply returned to his work.

“Let’s go,” Cyrus said quietly. “Let’s go say hello.”

He stepped out from the shade of the grape trellis and walked straight toward Silas.

Silas didn’t look up, but his hands paused for a moment.

“Silas,” Cyrus said as he stopped beside him, his voice calm and steady. “Long time no see.”

Silas straightened up and turned to face him.

There was little expression on his sun-darkened face, only something deep in his eyes that was impossible to read.

“Cyrus,” he said, calling him by name. His voice was steady. “What are you doing here?”

“I heard Tycoon Farm’s fruits and vegetables are good for mental power, so I wanted to come buy some and give them a try.” Cyrus smiled. “But you know there’s some bad blood between the Fifth Military and this farm. I couldn’t exactly buy them openly, so I figured I’d come take a look on my own. I didn’t expect to run into you.”

Silas looked at him for several seconds without saying anything.

The way he looked at him made Cyrus feel a little uneasy, but he didn’t look away.

Silas finally spoke. “So you’re here to buy produce?”

“That’s right.”

“Then why didn’t you go to the picking area?” Silas’s voice remained calm. “The tomatoes, strawberries, apples, and grapes are all over there. You’ve been standing around here watching for nearly an hour. What exactly have you been looking at?”

Cyrus fell silent.

Silas’s powers of observation hadn’t faded at all. If anything, they were even sharper than they had been years ago.

“Silas, I don’t mean any harm.” He softened his tone. “I just… wanted to confirm a few things.”

Silas looked at him intently. “What things?”

Cyrus looked back at him and remained silent for a long time before finally speaking. “Someone reported seeing signs of Swarmborn on Planet A001, so we came to investigate.”

Silas chuckled softly. “Well, now that you’re here, go ahead and look around. After looking for this long, have you found any signs of Swarmborn on our farm?”

Cyrus froze.

He hadn’t expected Silas to react as though he didn’t care at all.

Almost instinctively, he shook his head. “No.”

Silas nodded. “Then what are you still worried about?”

He crouched back down and resumed his work.

Cyrus stood there, unsure what to say.

Silas spoke again. “Our farm’s fruits and vegetables really are good for mental power. Before you leave, you should buy some and give them a try.”

There was no hostility in his voice, nor any trace of suspicion. He sounded like he was simply talking to an ordinary tourist.

At that moment, Cyrus finally understood.

Silas didn’t see him as an enemy. He didn’t even see him as someone who needed to be watched.

To Silas, he was nothing more than another visitor to the farm.

Cyrus looked toward the distant picking area, then back at Silas’s calm face.

He suddenly had the feeling that this trip might end without accomplishing anything at all.

“Silas,” he asked one last question, “how are you doing… these days?”

Silas straightened up and looked at him. A faint smile appeared on his sun-darkened face.

“I’m doing well,” he said. “Very well.”

Cyrus and his team spent another two days wandering around the farm.
