Chapter 135
Briar
Carter took the bottle and two glasses from the cabinet. I let out a contented sigh and pulled
two beers from the fridge…I didn’t want to think about anything but us tonight. I wanted my
concious and everything else to go fuck themselves. Right along with his sister’s words. I’d let
my freaking hormones have their way right now. I wanted his dick so bad I was salivating.
Confusion, guilt, impending doom, whatever this perpetual need to get fucked was. So I
followed him into the other room.
Carter sat down on the couch, pouring two glasses of whisky and motioned me to his lap. I
picked up my whisky glass and took a sip, eyed him and knocked it back. His eyes narrowed as
I set the glass on the coffee table and stepped between his legs and took a swig of my beer.
Part of me wanted Carter to prove he wasn’t the man I knew him to be, instead someone easily cast away by his own actions. Everything would be easier if I hadn’t fallen under his spell. I could have just disappeared again, and left Jake’s secrets behind me. He gazed up at me though, his eyes showed only hunger, it also shone with meansured wariness, proving he was
on to me, my need to escape.
He had confessed he loved me today. Could I trust that?
He yanked me by one hip pulling me to him and hooked that hand easily under my knees laying me across his lap. A low growl caused vibration to course through him. The menacing
sound elicited a shiver down my spine.
“I’m going to make one thing clear,” he growled into the crook of my neck. “I do, want to fuck you, but whatever this is, that’s gotten into your head, I’m not playing with what we have here. You want to forget shit fine, you want dick, fine. He pulled my hair at the nape of my neck forcing me to look into his eyes. “I’m not taking advantage of whatever this is, if you want it you can come get it yourself.” His lips were only a whisper away from mine as he now stared into my eyes. That presence within me crawled under my skin wanting to be closer to

him, to be devoured by him. He wanted me to come to him though… then so be it.
I leaned in as I shifted to straddle him. My lips brushed against his before my tongue grazed
along his bottom lip. His mouth parted willingly and I let mine delve and only then did his
hand slip further into my hair as he kissed me back lovingly, not the punishing way I thought
I wanted, but this, I couldn’t help but be undone by. I swear I could feel his emotions within
that kiss as it consumed me and I realized how completely this man had eased his way into
my shattered heart. He wasn’t going to prove me wrong as I wanted him to. That would make
my churning thoughts and choices so much easier, but I wanted him even more for not
choosing to be that man who proved it all a lie. When our kiss parted I stared at him as he
stared back at me. I took a long swallow of beer before I placed it on the coffee table behind
sofa arm as he relaxed casually. His eyes shone with curiosity. What would I do next?
I slipped my knees from around his thighs on the couch and shifted myself between his legs. I
dropped to the floor, my knees sinking into the plush rug. His eyes became hooded as he
waited. He took another swig patient for my next move as a smirk played at the corner of his
mouth. My hands ran up his strong thighs and yanked at his belt as I reached for my beer
behind me on the table and took a long swig with the other.
“Someone is eager tonight,” he said smirking at me
