Chapter 131
Samuel’s voice carried a weary note of concern as he spoke, trying to soothe the strained atmosphere.
“Damian, we all know how hard Sophia’s death hit you. We’re all heartbroken. But you can’t go mistaking Julian’s fiancée for Sophia.
“They might look alike, but she has the ID to prove she’s Ms. Fitzgerald. Take my advice–just swallow your pride and apologize to Julian. Let this go, alright?”
Just then, Bradley’s stern tone cut through, leaving no room for
argument.
“Damian, do as you’re told. Apologize to Julian, and we’ll consider the matter closed. Don’t make this difficult for
everyone.”
Theodore stepped forward, placing a hand on Damian’s shoulder with a sympathetic sigh. “No matter what happened, you shouldn’t have gotten physical first. Go apologize to Uncle Julian. He’s not going to hold it against you.”
Barry joined in, his tone respectful yet insistent. “Damian, be the bigger man and apologize. A man should know when to bend- we all make mistakes.”

One by one, others added their voices to the chorus.
Well–meaning yet suffocating, their pleas wove together into a tight, inescapable net that pressed down on Damian’s chest, making it hard to breathe.
Night and day, he had waited for Sophia to return.

And now she stood before him—yet she was no longer Sophia.
She stood beside Julian, her eyes cold and distant, a stranger to him.
The cruelest irony was that the entire world seemed to testify
that she was “Vivian.”
Her ID, the Hall family’s certainty, her own denial? Every piece of evidence fit together into a flawless, unshakeable truth, one he had no power to refute.
And everyone urged him to apologize to the man who had taken his wife, the man whose arm now rested possessively around her
waist.
Was the whole Hall family insane, or was he?
She was his wife. Yet here they stood, reunited yet unrecognized.
Damian felt his heart sinking, the will to fight draining away.3:04

His eyes remained locked on Sophia. He was desperate for even a flicker of remembrance or pity in her gaze.
But her expression was chillingly blank, devoid of any feeling.
There was no point arguing anymore.
Resigned, Damian closed his eyes, feeling every last shred of hope dissolve into nothingness.
He knew exactly the consequences of defying Bruce, the Hall family patriarch. Challenging him was nothign short of a death
wish.
And just as well—death didn’t seem so unwelcome.
If Sophia hated him this much, he would give her his life.
When he opened his eyes again, they were hollow, devoid of light. “I’ve done nothing wrong. Save your breath.”
“Damian, have you lost your mind?” Catherine cried out, her fear cutting through her tears,
“Apologize to Julian, now! Do you even understand what’ll happen if you don’t?”
Voices rose around him, overlapping in concern and urgency.

“Damian…”
“Damian…”
“Damian…”
“Mr. Damian Hall…”
Bruce’s roar silenced them all, his anger palpable.
“Stubborn and unrepentant!
“The first rule of this family is harmony–kinship, loyalty, and mutual support. Never conflict among our own.”
He glared at Damian, his voice hardening. “You, a junior, dared to raise your hand against an elder. And worst of all, two relatives tearing each other apart over a woman, disregarding family unity entirely.”
Catherine tried again, frantic. “Uncle Bruce, Damian’s just grieving his late wife. It’s not as serious as-”
“Enough!” Bruce cut her off, his focus returning to Damian. “Bring the disciplinary whip. Thirty lashes, Let this serve as a warning.”
