Chapter 141
Michael’s brow smoothed, a sudden idea sparking in his mind. He quickly pulled out his phone to call Damian.
“No need. Damian is still in the hospital, unconscious from severe injuries,” Julian interjected, his tone low and cautioning.
The phone fell from Michael’s hand, hitting the floor with a dull
thud.
Severe injuries? Unconscious?
Damian was the proud, untouchable heir to the Hall family, a man who commanded everything in New York.
He was the one who inflicted wounds, not received them.
Who could possibly have hurt him so badly? And to leave him in
a coma?
Michael’s mind reeled, struggling to process the flood of information.
His lips trembled. “Damian… what happened to him?”
“He was disciplined by my uncle,” Julian stated flatly.

at the mention of Damian’s condition, Julian gave it a reassuring squeeze and deftly shifted focus.
“Mr. Anderson, there is still a way to save your daughter. The question is, are you willing?”
“I am! Just tell me what it is!” Michael agreed without a second thought, not even waiting to hear the terms.
His swift compliance surprised Sophia.
But then, hadn’t her father always doted on Isabelle above all
else?
Had he ever truly considered her feelings?
Even now, after Isabelle had effectively caused her “death,” Michael’s priority remained saving Isabelle at any cost.
To him, Isabelle’s life still outweighed her own.
A fresh pang of pain tore through the recently healed wounds in her heart.
Her eyes grew teary, and she bit down hard on her lower lip to hold back the emotion.
Julian, ever perceptive, caught the shift in her mood.

Leaning close, his warm breath brushing her cheek, he murmured in a low, comforting voice.
“Little one, why the tears? So your father doesn’t care. You still have your grandfather, your uncles, your cousins–they all care.
“And most importantly, you have me. I’ll deal with your father for you, give him a hard time. How about that?”
The threat of tears vanished instantly, replaced by a soft, surprised laugh. “Okay.”
As Michael watched their intimate exchange, his anxiety for Isabelle flared.
“Mr. Hall, please, call your men off first. If this goes on much longer, I fear I’ll agree to your terms only for my daughter to have no life left to save.”
The tenderness in Julian’s eyes vanished, replaced by his customary cool detachment,
“Jeffrey, enough games, I believe Ms, Isabelle Anderson has learned her lesson. Pull her out.”
“You got it,” Jeffrey replied with an easy smile,
As a fellow man, he recognized the particular interest Julian Bold for his cousin.

A pity Sophia seemed to view Julian with nothing more than respectful deference. His friend had a long road ahead.
Isabelle was hauled out and unceremoniously dumped onto the cold floor. She lay sprawled, gasping for air like a beached fish, her lungs burning with each ragged breath, too utterly drained
to even muster tears.
With panicked faces etched in alarm, Michael and Rhea rushed to her side, pulling her up. “Isabelle! Sweetheart, open your eyes! Please, don’t frighten us like this…”
However, she remained motionless, her complexion deathly pale.
A loud, heart–wrenching sob burst from Rhea as she clutched at her daughter’s limp form.
“My baby… my Isabelle! I–If something happens to you, I can’t go on either!”
“Relax, she’s not dying. Save the funeral dirge!” Arthur sneered.
“Enough!” Jeffrey cut in, a flicker of impatience in his eyes. “Now, let’s discuss our terms. Agree to them, and we guarantee she won’t see the inside of a police station.”
He then laid out the conditions, slowly and deliberately.

Michael and Rhea stared, their expressions shifting to utter disbelief.
It took Rhea a moment to find her voice.
