Chapter 2
So, between her and Isabelle, her husband had chosen Isabelle.
Sophia let out a bitter laugh, her expression more a grimace than a smile.
Her once–clear eyes now burned red.
“Don’t bother, Mr. Hall. Being with my sister is more important.”
Hearing her call him “Mr. Hall” with that icy stare dragged him back to college—when he’d mess with her and she’d hit him with
that exact tone.
A sudden pang struck Damian’s heart. He grabbed her hand, voice going soft.
“Come on, don’t be like this. Isabelle isn’t as tough as you. She’s fragile… like she never really grew up. She would’ve been crushed if I’d said no today.
“And the public doesn’t know I’m married. Don’t go post anything online. It’d be bad for Isabelle’s reputation, I screwed up today. I’ll make it up to you,”
Even now, all he cared about was protecting her sister,

Nog once did he think about how much he was hurting her. 11:31

The irony cut so deep Sophia almost laughed.
He was soothing her… for another woman. Like she was the
mistress.

Sophia froze, every last bit of color draining from her face.
Damian pulled her into his arms. His fingers grazed her lips before his mouth claimed hers. His hand slipped under her clothes out of habit…
Three years of marriage. Countless nights like this. She knew his scent as if it were carved into her bones.
But now, the faint trace of another woman’s perfume on him felt like a sharp slap, shattering what was left of her pride.
Just as he deepened the kiss, a wave of nausea rolled through her stomach.
She shoved him away with all her strength and ran to the bathroom, dry heaving over the toilet.
Damian followed her to the door.
“Are you not feeling well?” he asked, his voice laced with
concern.
Sophia wiped a tear from the corner of her eye and sneered.

“No. I’m just allergic to filth.”
His face went dark. His tone turned ice–cold.
“That’s disgusting, Sophia. Are you seriously jealous of your own
? Nothing’s going o
between us. Don’t you dare drag her
name through the mud.”
His affair was the talk of the town, and she was the one being humiliated.
He felt no guilt. Instead, he called her disgusting.
At that moment, the anonymous comments from the livestream suddenly felt painfully real.
He cared far more for Isabelle than she had ever imagined.
The truth shattered her world in an instant.
She took a deep breath, fighting to control her emotions.
“And what if I do?” she challenged.
Damian lunged forward and grabbed her wrist, his eyes dark and cold.
“Don’t you touch her. Or I can’t say what I’ll do to you.”

Pain shot through Sophia’s wrist as if it were about to snap. His anger was palpable.
He showed no trace of affection, his icy gaze fixed on her.
Just as Sophia was about to speak, his phone rang.
Damian let her go and stepped aside to answer the call.
Sophia watched his face soften, his eyes warm with a tenderness she’d never seen.
She heard him murmuring comfort to Isabelle, and her throat went tight.
She bit her lip, trying to hold it back, but tears spilled down her cheeks anyway.
Moments later, an engine roared downstairs. Damian was gone without a word.
Swallowing the heart–wrenching pain, Sophia went to the bed, picked up her phone, and made a call.

“Sophia, stop drinking.
“That bastard Damian is probably with your half–sister right
now.
the wouldn’t know,
“You could drink yourself to death here, and he wouldn’t know, let alone care.”
Just then, Damian’s sister, Bella Hall, walked in.
She froze at the sight of Sophia–like a puppet with cut strings, broken and lost in the flashing lights.
A bad feeling crept in. She held her breath before speaking, her
voice hesitant.
“Sophia, don’t be like this. Those comments on the live stream… just ignore them.
“When you left to study in France. Damian dropped everything and followed you. Didn’t even hesitate.”
“Back then, everyone said you and Connor were the perfect match, destined to be together. But Damian never gave up. He stayed by your side,
“Then Connor fell for Isabelle, and Damian finally got his shot, Three years ago in Europe, he took a bullet for you. That’s when you finally said yes.

“Damian really loves you. He’d die for you. Nobody does all this just to get married.”
“Bella, people change.” Sophia knocked back her drink. The burn in her throat was nothing compared to the ache in her chest.
A cold, bitter smile crossed her lips.
“He ditched my mom’s memorial, and I’m the one who got torn apart by my family. I thought he was busy with work. Turns out he was with my sister.
“The whole city thinks Isabelle is his girlfriend. And he, my husband, tells me not to post anything reckless online. Isn’t that hilarious?”
“Maybe it’s just a misunderstanding?” Bella hugged her tightly. “I’m calling him right now. He needs to explain this.”
“Don’t! I can handle it myself.” Sophia patted her back and stood up. “I’m going to the restroom.”
Stella glanced at Sophia, worried. “Want me to come with you?”
“No, it’s fine. I’m not that drunk.” Sophia waved her off and walked toward the restrooms.
A few minutes later, Sophia dried her hands and started walking
