Chapter 25
Sophia stared at Michael’s ruthless face, then glanced at Rhea- sobbing beside him, but unable to hide the smirk tugging at her lips.
Finally, her gaze drifted through the glass to the tall, cold figure outside.
Damian had been there the whole time. Just standing there. Like a stranger.
The silent permission in his eyes told her everything.
He was letting this happen. Waiting. Hoping she’d sign the settlement and let his precious Isabelle go free.
Something metallic and bitter surged up her throat. Sophia forced it down.
She closed her eyes wearily. When she opened them again, only deathly silence remained.
“I won’t sign,” she said quietly, but with absolute resolve. “Not unless I’m dead.”
“Well! Perfect!” Michael’s face turned purple with rage. The mask finally dropped.

family’s reputation, don’t blame me for being heartless.”
He waved sharply toward the door. “Get in here!”
Two massive bodyguards strode in.
Sophia stared at Michael in disbelief, tears welling up.
It felt like someone was ripping her heart out with their bare hands.
“Hold her down!” Michael barked. “Force her hand. Sign her name.”
The guards moved fast, pinning Sophia in place.
“You wouldn’t dare!” She thrashed wildly, but injured and weak, she was b she was no match for them.
Her slender fingers were pried open. A pen was shoved between them. Her hand forced down onto the victim’s signature line of a pre–printed settlement letter.
“Let go of me! Let go!” Sophia sobbed, tears streaming down her face.
“Michael Anderson! My mom is dead, and this is how you treat her daughter? Teaming up with your mistress to destroy me? How can you face her?!”

It was the first time she’d ever called him by name. Michael’s expression twisted as he looked at her.
Those eyes–cold as frost, sharp as blades–stabbed straight into his heart. Just like Elaine’s.
Had he made a mistake?
Michael’s eyes reddened. His voice came out hoarse and raw.
“Sophia, I’m sorry. I didn’t want it to come to this, but you’re too damn stubborn. You refused. I had no choice.”
“I have to save Isabelle. I failed your mother–when I’m in hell, I’ll beg her forgiveness.”
“Sophia… what parent can watch their daughter suffer and do nothing?”
Rhea was thrilled inside, but her face twisted with fake concern.
“Your father’s out of options. Just help Isabelle this once.”
Sophia laughed coldly. Her stepmother–always playing the victim, always groveling. And Michael fell for it every time,
Isabelle learned all her manipulative tricks from Rhea. And Damian? He ate it up too,

made? Drunk and disorderly, hit–and–run, insulting a champion’s girlfriend after losing a race and starting a brawl- who cleaned up after her every single time?”
Sophia’s voice turned icy. “This is the daughter you raised.”
“Now that you can’t handle the Hall family, you come for me. You think you can keep covering for her forever? She’s an adult. Time to face consequences.”
“Isabelle’s still young. We’ll teach her better.” Michael didn’t budge. He gestured to the bodyguard to force Sophia’s hand toward the paper. “Just sign it this time.”
Sophia stared out the window. Her legal husband. The man she’d once secretly fallen for. He just stood there. Still as stone.
While she was being humiliated, he did nothing to stop it.
Damian didn’t love her. Not even a little.
Everything before–all of it–was an act, And she’d been stupid enough to believe it.
The dream was over.
Sophia’s heart shattered. Tears streamed down her face.
