Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 61

Chapter 61

She was clever-pulling Damian into her corner, making him an ally.

Even though he hadn’t conspired with her to scheme against Connor, he’d still witnessed their kiss without stopping it. Later, when Sophia saw them together, she was heartbroken. That same night, Sophia got drunk and ended up in bed with Damian, and the two naturally married afterward.

Damian had benefited from that whole mess-there was no

reason he wouldn’t help her now.

The man looked down at her with heavy eyes, complex emotions

she couldn’t read swirling in their depths.

His silence stretched on, and Isabelle thought she was

completely finished this time. Her heart sank.

Damian’s sharp gaze swept over her terrified face.

“I hate being lied to more than anything else. So, Isabelle, you wouldn’t lie to me, would you?”

Terror crashed over Isabelle like a wave, draining the color from

her face.

Had he discovered something wrong with the pendant?

No, impossible!

Besides Rhea, hardly anyone knew about that. She’d been so careful not to leave any traces.

Rhea had been crystal clear-take the pendant to Damian, and from then on, he’d grant her every wish.

And it had worked exactly as Rhea promised. The moment Damian saw that pendant, his eyes went wide. His usual cold composure shattered completely. He fell silent for so long that the tension became unbearable.

Later, he’d asked detailed questions, and Isabelle had answered flawlessly.

Damian had closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, there was a certain resolve in their depths.

He’d told Isabelle, word by word. “From now on, you’re under my protection.”

Pushing down all the memories and anxiety, Isabelle forced herself to speak. “How could I ever lie to you, Damian? I wouldn’t dare, not if you gave me a hundred chances.”

The words barely left her lips before tears began streaming down her face.

This time it wasn’t an act-she was genuinely terrified.

Seeing her sobbing like this, Damian couldn’t bring himself to be harsh with her.

He sighed softly, his voice betraying nothing. “Isabelle, if my father or anyone else in the Hall family finds out that you’re the one who came up with the idea to cyberbully Sophia, they won’t let you off easy.”

He paused, his gaze turning cold. “But with me here, they can’t touch you. Just… behave yourself from now on, understand?”

Hearing this, Isabelle felt like she’d been granted a reprieve. She nodded frantically, choking out her promise. “I understand, Damian. I knew you’d be the best to me. I’ll listen to everything you say from now on!”

“Enough. Stop crying.” Damian seemed weary as he looked away. “I need to handle the TV station situation now. Get some

rest.”

With that, he turned and left without a backward glance.

The underground parking garage was dead silent.

Damian slid into his black Rolls-Royce but didn’t start the engine.

His long, elegant fingers pulled out a cigarette and lit it.

The flame flickered in the dim interior, illuminating his expressionless profile.

He took a drag and slowly exhaled a ring of smoke, then pulled out his phone and dialed.

The call connected. “Hello?”

“This is Damian Hall. I’m calling about tonight’s report.”

His voice was ice-cold.

There was a pause, then the man’s tone shifted completely. “Oh! Mr. Hall! What can I do for you?”

Damian tapped ash from his cigarette. “Pull tonight’s report. Now. If you want to keep your job as station manager.”

“But-”

“Otherwise,” Damian cut him off, “Veridian Group’s legal team will be paying you a visit. That audio was obtained illegally- invasion of privacy. It won’t hold up in court, and you know it.

“Your program is suspected of infringing on others’ legitimate rights, spreading false information, and causing terrible social impact. Can you handle that responsibility?”

Mason Carter, the station manager, gripped his phone as cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

Jesus Christ, this was Connor Hall—one of the Hall family heirs! The guy practically controlled half of New York’s economy.

A station manager like him couldn’t afford to piss off someone that powerful.
