Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 63

Chapter 63

“This security footage clearly shows you entering that mental patient’s room. Shortly after, he came charging out with a knife, targeting you specifically.”

Sophia stepped closer, leaning down to whisper in her ear with chilling coldness:

“Inciting someone to commit murder, especially exploiting a mentally ill patient-that’s a felony. Isabelle, is this enough to put you away for a few years?”

The blood drained from Isabelle’s face in an instant, her lips trembling uncontrollably.

That morning, she’d learned from Damian that Sophia hadn’t died-Dorothy had rescued her and brought her to the same hospital where Isabelle was staying.

Hearing the concern in Damian’s voice had driven her nearly mad with jealousy.

In that moment, consumed with the desire to destroy Sophia, she’d completely forgotten about the hallway security cameras.

Damn it!

Her legs gave out, and she collapsed to the floor, switching to a remorseful expression as tears streamed down her face:

“I was wrong this time. I didn’t mean it—please, have forgive me just this once. I’m sorry!”

Watching her seamless performance, tears flowing on command, Sophia thought to herself that if Isabelle ever entered the entertainment industry, she’d definitely win an Oscar.

But how could she possibly be truly repentant? She’d be thrilled if Sophia died!

Sophia frowned and stepped back coldly. “If saying sorry actually worked, what would we need police for?”

“Are you really going to be this ruthless? If you treat me like this, Damian won’t let you get away with it.” Seeing that Sophia wasn’t budging an inch, Isabelle felt her teeth itch with rage.

“Then I’ll see exactly how he plans to make me pay.” The mere mention of Damian’s name sent a chill through Sophia’s heart, her tone growing even more rigid.

Isabelle shot to her feet in fury, striding over to stand before her with hatred blazing in her eyes:

long ago-don’t you understand that yet?

“There’s no point in clinging to your position as Mrs. Hall. Wealthy families like the Halls care deeply about heirs, and you haven’t produced a child in three years. That alone is enough grounds for them to kick you out of the Hall family. How can you still have the nerve to stay?”

Sophia’s chest tightened as she turned to look at Isabelle.

Despite wearing a hospital gown, the swelling on her face had mostly subsided. Her dyed-black hair fell softly over her shoulders, showing no trace of Sophia’s earlier assault.

This youthful, vibrant face was flawless, with eyes bright like stars-clearly someone who’d been treasured and protected her entire life, a delicate flower that had never known hardship.

Someone who couldn’t bear even the slightest grievance.

But there was something in her eyes-a coldness that her sweet expression couldn’t quite hide.

That look said it all: Don’t even try to compete with me. You’ll always lose.

But the truth was, Sophia had never wanted to compete with

her.

She understood that what belonged to her was hers-no one could take it away. And if someone could easily steal it, then it was never meant to be hers in the first place.

Whether it was people or things.

Sophia withdrew her gaze and said calmly, “I’ll be divorcing him soon. Whether you want to marry Connor or Damian after that is none of my business.”

With that, she walked back to her bed, picked up her water glass, and took a composed sip.

Isabelle was stunned.

She couldn’t understand how Sophia could remain so calm.

In the past, just a few cutting words would send Sophia into a rage, giving Isabelle the satisfaction of seeing anger and hurt written across her face.

She loved watching Sophia’s defeated expressions-it reminded Sophia exactly who held the most important place in Damian’s heart.

But now, Isabelle saw none of that.

Instead, Sophia was telling her she planned to divorce Damian.

The Hall family-the dream destination for countless wealthy daughters in the city.

Julian, the third son of the Hall family, and Theodore, the eldest grandson—weren’t they both golden bachelors?

So many women would kill to marry into the Hall family, yet Sophia was talking about divorce.

Was this some kind of reverse psychology?

Using divorce as a threat to force Damian to care about her more, to make him choose between the two women?

What a clever scheme.

But Isabelle refused to let her have her way.

With this thought, Isabelle sneered inwardly, looking at Sophia with a flash of madness in her eyes:
