Chapter 76
Amid the chaos and startled screams, Stella slowly opened her
eyes.
A tall man came into view.
His hair was neatly styled, his features sharp. Beneath his strong brows, his eyes were cold-dangerously so.
Wherever his gaze fell, the air seemed to turn icy.
He didn’t spare a glance for Egbert sprawled on the ground.
Didn’t look at anyone else.
He walked straight toward her.
Weston.
Why was he here?
Stella froze, dazed. Her lips trembled, and a soft “thank you” slipped out.
As Weston lowered his gaze, the sight of her hit him all at once— her disheveled hair, the glaring handprint on her pale face, and the torn neckline revealing far too much skin.

Something in his chest tightened sharply.
Weston cleared his throat and looked away.
He quickly took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders, covering her before asking in a low, controlled voice, “Did they hit you?”
Wrapped in his suit jacket, still warm from his body, Stella caught his clean, familiar scent.
It settled deep in her chest.
Her tears broke free all at once, and she nodded.
Seeing her like that-eyes red, shoulders trembling-something in Weston softened completely.
He pulled her into his arms, one hand gently patting her back.
“It’s okay,” he murmured. “You’re safe now. I’m here.”
Watching them hold each other like no one else existed, the others slowly snapped out of it-and immediately started shouting.
“Fuck-who the hell are you?” Paul snapped.
“What, you Stella’s little boy toy? A nobody like her can afford to

keep you?”
“Are you blind or just stupid?” He pointed at Weston, grinning as spit flew from his mouth. “You’ve got some nerve crashing Mr. Russell’s party.”
“What, you think you’re some kind of hero? Saving the damsel?”
“If you’ve got any sense, you’ll get on your knees, apologize, and get the hell out of here. Otherwise…”
He dragged out the last word, his eyes turning vicious.
་་
“…you’re not walking out of here.”
Another voice chimed in, sharp and mocking.
“That’s right. In Atlanta, all it takes is one word from Mr. Russell, and a nobody like you won’t last a day.”
“You think throwing on a suit makes you somebody?”
“Let me spell it out for you-what you did tonight counts as assault and disturbing the peace. One call, and you’re done.”
As he spoke, he pulled out his phone, pretending to dial the police.
The man closest to Egbert bent down to help him up. ||

The moment Egbert got back on his feet, the man’s expression turned smug, his tone dripping with contempt.
“Did you hear that, you piece of trash? Get on your knees and apologize. Lick the dirt off Mr. Russell’s shoes, then hand the girl over.”
He sneered.
“Mr. Russell’s generous-maybe he’ll let you walk out of here in one piece. Otherwise…”
His smile turned cold.
‘…you might end up floating down the river by morning.”
At the words “hand the girl over,” Stella’s whole body trembled.
She quietly tugged on Weston’s sleeve, her voice shaking as she whispered, “Weston… please… don’t give me to him.”
Her warm breath brushed against his ear, her voice soft- nothing like her usual sharp tone.
Weston’s heart jolted.
It started pounding hard against his ribs.

Her faint scent drifted up, warm and intoxicating-like a warning.
A seasoned player in the business world, Weston understood immediately.
These bastards had drugged her.
He didn’t even want to think about what might have happened if he’d arrived a second later.
Feeling her trembling in his arms, Weston tightened his grip
around her waist.
He leaned down, his lips brushing close to her neck, his voice low and hoarse.
“I’m not giving you to him. Don’t be afraid.”
Something stirred in Stella’s chest.
She felt so hot.
Back then, when she went with Sophia to confront Damian, she
had cursed Weston without holding back-
And now, the memory burned.
Ayas strange.

She used to hate him-couldn’t even stand the sight of him.
But now… she didn’t resist being this close to him.
She even leaned into him.
It felt like holding onto something cool, easing the burning heat
inside her.
