Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 84

Chapter 84

“No, no need for that. Nova Talent Agency is hosting its Annual Gala-Honor of the Year-in New York City next week. Just make sure you’re there.”

Ryan let out a long breath, like a weight had finally been lifted off his shoulders.

“Oh, right, Ms. Parker-there’ll be a car picking you up shortly to take you back to New York. We’ve arranged an apartment for you there. Once you arrive, you can move in right away. No need to rent anymore.”

Stella sucked in a sharp breath.

An apartment… too?

She didn’t even dare think about how many years it would take her to afford a place in New York.

In a city where every inch of land cost a fortune, an apartment was practically out of reach.

She’d always heard Nova Talent Agency offered some of the best benefits in the industry.

But she never imagined someone like her-a complete nobody- Would get her own place.

“Is… is this standard for all Nova artists?”

“Mr. Garner… I’m just a nobody actress. Are you sure you’ve got the right person?”

She still couldn’t quite believe it. After a brief pause, she asked again, just to be sure.

“Ms. Parker, you’re free to question Nova’s decisions—but not my professionalism.”

Ryan frowned, his tone turning serious. “I’ve been Mr. Heade’s chief secretary for years. I don’t make rookie mistakes.”

“I’m sorry, Mr. Garner-I didn’t mean to question you.” Stella caught the edge in his voice and quickly explained, “It’s just… this all feels like too much for me.”

“I understand now. I’ll follow the company’s arrangements and head back to New York on time.”

Knock! Knock! Knock!

A steady rhythm sounded at the door.

Stella grabbed a random jacket from the pile of new clothes and slipped it on, her phone still in hand as she walked over.

She peeked through the peephole-

It was Ryan.

She quickly ended the call, opened the door, and looked at him in confusion.

“Mr. Garner? What are you doing here?”

“Ms. Parker, good morning. I brought you breakfast-you can grab a bite before we leave.”

Ryan handed her a neatly packed breakfast, smiling.

“I’ll be waiting downstairs. Once you’re ready, we’ll head back to New York right away.”

“So soon?” Stella lowered her gaze, puzzled.

Ryan didn’t seem surprised by the question. He explained patiently, “Egbert’s been dealt with, but there’s no guarantee his people won’t come after you again.”

“Guys like him always have backups-and they don’t play nice.”

“If Mr. Heade hadn’t shown up last night… things could’ve gone very badly. It’s better to be cautious.”

Only then did it really sink in for Stella.

A chill ran down her spine.

“You’re right, Mr. Garner.”

“Thank you for waiting for me. I’ll meet you in the parking lot soon-I won’t be long.”

Stella didn’t think too much about it. She nodded, closed the

door, and started packing.

Outside, Ryan let out a long breath.

Getting Stella to agree hadn’t been easy.

He’d used every method he could think of to get her to lower her guard and agree to go back to New York.

Now that it was done, he finally felt rèlieved.

He headed toward the parking lot, his steps light—almost cheerful.

After a quick wash, Stella grabbed a few bites of breakfast before hurrying downstairs.

Soon, she was in Ryan’s car.

On the way, Sophia suddenly came to mind.

She remembered telling her once-if she ever had her own studio, Sophia would be the first person she told.

But now…

She had signed with Nova Talent Agency-the top agency in the country.

And the one person she wanted to share that joy with was gone.

Gone without a trace.

The fire had been fierce. The explosions deafening.

Sophia… you must have suffered so much.

Why is it that good people never get a happy ending?

Her fingers trembled as she picked up her phone.
