Chapter 93
She sniffed, her voice rough.
Then she asked the question that had been buried deepest in her
heart.
“But… don’t you feel anything for Isabelle? Everyone says we’re both daughters of the Anderson family… but I had everything growing up.”
“And she had nothing. She grew up in the slums, suffered, and was looked down on. She only came back at six.”
“Dad always felt he owed her. He gave her everything.”
“Damian, Connor-they all think the same way. They feel sorry for her. They want to make up for it.”
She looked straight into Julian’s eyes.
“So what about you? Do you think she deserves more? That everything I have… should be given to her?”
Julian froze.
He hadn’t expected that question.

And now she was asking if she should give it all away?
Completely absurd.
He exhaled slowly, steadying himself.
Then he reached out, gently wiping away the tears at the corners
of her eyes.
His hands settled on her shoulders, firm and grounding.
“Sophia. Listen to me.”
Her heart skipped a beat at the sound of his deep, steady voice.
“I don’t believe anyone gets to use their pain as leverage. What you have now was left to you by Elaine, and I protected it for you. It’s yours. There’s no reason to hand it over to anyone.”
“Isabelle had a hard childhood, yes. But that wasn’t your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong. Michael did. He’s the one who should answer for all of this.”
“He has no right to take what’s yours to make up for someone else.”
Julian’s fingers brushed lightly over her tear-streaked face.

Then his voice softened.
“Tell me… ever since she came back, have you really had it easier than her?”
“Your mother died young. Your father favors her. She takes what’s yours whenever she wants. And you… you just keep putting up with it. Did you really think I wouldn’t know?”
He sighed, then continued, “They can do whatever they want to ease their own guilt. But you don’t owe anyone anything. You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone. And you definitely don’t need to pay for someone else’s mistakes.”
He looked at her seriously.
“Remember this. No matter what happens, I’m on your side. Not because of Elaine. Because you’re Sophia.”
“And no one gets to hurt you. Anyone who does… I’ll make them pay.”
For a moment, the words he really wanted to say almost slipped
out.
But he held them back.
It wasn’t the right time to confess.

She was still heartbroken.
He couldn’t make things heavier for her.
Time would help her heal.
And he would stay by her side until it did.
Burying all his feelings, he smiled gently.
“Sophia… trust me, okay? I’ve never lied to you, have I?”
Her voice trembled.
“I trust you. I’ve always trusted you.”
Tears blurred her vision again.
“I just thought… when I got married and you didn’t show up… you were angry with me. I was too scared to call you. I’m sorry…
Julian’s gaze flickered.
But he hid it quickly and reached out to ruffle her hair.
“Hey… don’t be silly. Why would I be mad at you? I just had something to take care of back then.”
