Her fifth daughter died, so she deleted his bloodline. novel Chapter 124

Chapter 19

[Welcome to the Nine-Tiered Spire dungeon.]

[Objective: Eliminate all monsters within seven days to clear the stage.]

[Initial players: 16. Surviving players: 16.]

[Enjoy the game.]

A blinding flash faded to reveal a towering, obsidian spire looming over me. The mechanical system voice droned in my

ears, sounding both alien and disturbingly familiar.

My eyesight is terrible without glasses. I am practically blind.

I cannot distinguish a man from a mailbox at three paces. Everything is just a blur of indistinct shapes.

I pulled my beanie low and adjusted my face mask. I intended to fly under the radar.

Panic erupted from the group of rookies standing nearby.

Where the hell am I?” one voice shrieked. “My bungee cord snapped! I know I hit the ground!”

“I flatlined in the hospital,” another voice trembled. “Is this Hell?”

Two hulking men stepped forward. They claimed to be veterans.

They began barking orders. They were clearly eager to establish dominance over the terrified flock.

“Listen up. one said. “If you survive enough dungeons and bank 9999 redemption credits, you get to go home. You get a

second chance at life.”

A wave of desperate hope washed over the group.

The veteran quickly crushed it. “But your payout depends on your Sanity Level.”

The system monitors your fear. Finish with a Sanity Level of 99, and you only get one credit.”

“Hit 100 during the game, and your brain fries. You die for real.”

“Most pros are happy to keep their Sanity Level under 50,” he added with a smirk. There is only one legend in history

who clears runs with a Sanity Level of zero.”

A chill ran down my spine. I tugged the brim of my hat down until it obscured my face completely.

The crowd’s hope dissolved into despair.

A paunchy man in an ill-fitting suit let out a guttural roar of frustration.

This is bullshit! I am not doing this!”

“I slaved away at a nine-to-five for thirty years and finally paid off my mortgage yesterday!” he screamed, his face

turning purple.

Then my heart gives out, and I have to grind through some sick game to get my life back?”

“I am done! I am not playing your damn game!”

He turned and sprinted blindly into the wall of dense black fog that surrounded the clearing.

The mist swallowed him instantly. There was a wet crunch followed by silence.

A pile of clean, white bones clattered onto the pavement. The sound hit us like a physical blow.
