Her fifth daughter died, so she deleted his bloodline. novel Chapter 17

Chapter 8

I was walking on air when we stepped out of the mall.

Easton drove the car to a river, pulled over and turned off the engine.

Silence fell over the car in an instant, and the air grew thick with tension.

My nerves got the better of me, my fingers twisting the seatbelt nervously.

“Um… thanks for sticking up for me back there,” I said.

Easton turned to me, his gaze intense and burning on mine.

“Thank me? Words aren’t enough,” he said.

A flutter of panic shot through me, and I shrank back a little. “W-well… what do you

want then?”!

Easton unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned in and pinned me against the small space of the

passenger seat.

“Guess, babe?” His voice was deep and hoarse, laced with a dangerous edge. “That

woman said you tricked me?”

Guilt washed over me, and I turned my head away, too afraid to meet his eyes.

“I-it wasn’t really a trick. She’s the one who gave me the account, and I… I never said I was her,” I stammered.

“And I-I put in the work too! Chatting with you every day, cheering you up, coming up with all those… all those…”

“All those flirty lines?” Easton cut in, his eyes crinkling with amusement.

My cheeks flushed bright red, and I nodded. “Exactly! It’s mental labor, okay!”

Easton let out a soft chuckle, his finger lifting my chin and forcing me to look at him. “I knew it all along, actually.”

I froze, dumbfounded. “Knew it? Knew what?

“That someone else had taken over the account,” he said, his eyes locked on mine, serious now. “The old TinyMarsh was slow to reply, cold and distant, only ever asking

for money.”

“But the new one? Replied in an instant, had a sweet mouth, and sent all those cute emojis. She asked for money too, but she did it openly; it was adorable.”

“Especially that one voice note, when you tried to talk in that high-pitched fake voice.

It almost killed me.”

I was so embarrassed I could’ve died, my toes curling in my

shoes.

He’d known the whole time!

“T-then why did you send me so much money?”

Easton raised an eyebrow, a lazy smile playing on his lips. “Because I wanted to.”

“I loved chatting with you, loved seeing you try so hard to please me for the money, loved all those… ridiculous flirty lines of yours.”

“I thought even if the person behind the screen was plain-looking, it wouldn’t matter.

Not with a soul that fun.”

“Then I saw you…” He leaned in until his lips were just a breath away, his voice a low

murmur against my skin. “Turns out luck was on my side. I got a stunning beauty

instead.”

My heart hammered so hard it felt like it was about to jump out of my throat.

This wasn’t how the story was supposed to go

Wasn’t he supposed to fly into a rage when he found out the truth, slap a check on the dash and tell me to get lost?

How did it turn into a heartfelt confession?

The comments were going absolutely wild.

(Ahhh! I’m dying! This is so sweet!]
