Her fifth daughter died, so she deleted his bloodline. novel Chapter 67

Chapter 14

Elevator up. Floors ticking.

I leaned against the wall, eyes closed.

Ethan’s voice beside me. “Leg hurt?”

“A little.”

“Hot compress when we get in.”

“Okay.”

Doors opened. Warm yellow hallway light. Rain muffled, distant, like another world.

Suddenly starving.

“What’s for dinner?”

Ethan paused, unlocking the door. Glanced back, lips curving.

“What do you want?”

“Crab linguine.”

“Thought you were dieting?”

“Tomorrow.”

He laughed, pushed the door open. Warm air rushed out.

I walked in, hung my wet coat.

He pulled me into a hug. Tight. Like he was transferring his warmth.

“From now on, you have me. No matter what I’m not going anywhere.” I leaned into him. Steady heartbeat.

For the first time, in this city’s rain, I wasn’t cold.

“Ethan.”
