Her Gilded Revenge For Stolen Fate novel Chapter 56

Chapter 56

Ever since that renowned doctor visited Aurea Manor, Celia had been openly feeding off Vivian.

Celia satisfied the Host Enchantment inside her, fed her own greed and ambition, and drained all the Fortune from Vivian’s Phoenix Fate.

With that, Celia shot up to the heights of wealth and glory.

But Vivian was chained up in Maple Yard like a dog, hands and feet locked in iron, unable to take even a single step outside.

Even her marriage was decided in a rush. With her name dragged through the mud, Vivian was forced to marry Charles. She didn’t get a say in any of it.

Quentin’s talk of the family discipline dragged up memories Vivian had tried to forget, shameful ones that still cut deep, no matter how hard she tried to bury them.

The System picked up on her mood and couldn’t help but chime in. Host, you’ve already reclaimed nineteen Fortune Points. Just one more and you’ll earn your second Golden Plume. Your destiny isn’t what it used to be.

Vivian closed her eyes. After a moment, she pulled herself together and looked at Quentin. Father, I’ll say it one more time. There’s nothing going on between Charles and me,she said.

Quentin didn’t buy a single word of it. He barked at the butler to fetch the cane. But Beatrice and Flora stepped in to stop

him.

Beatrice said, Quentin, Vivian’s always been honest and straightforward. She wouldn’t lie about something as important as her honor. Why not check the facts first, so we don’t end up blaming her for nothing?

Mother, don’t let her fool you. She’s just being stubborn and won’t ever admit it,Quentin cut in. His face twisted with rage, looking like a beast ready to snap.

Sylvia and Celia shot each other a look.

Sylvia dabbed at her tears and sniffled, Your Grace, I just can’t believe Vivian would do something like this. Maybe it’s all just a misunderstanding?

Aunt Sylvia, it’s no misunderstanding. Vivian wrote me a bunch of love poems. I bet they’re still hidden in her room. If you don’t believe me, go ahead and search,Charles shouted at the top of his lungs.

Charles knew this was his one shot to become Quentin’s soninlaw. Not only would he get to marry into a powerful family, but it would also put Celia’s mind at ease.

Celia had always felt guilty ever since Vivian ruined her face, and Vivian shamelessly exploited her sister’s naivety and kindness.

If Charles married Vivian, Vivian would lose her chance to use Celia’s good heart for her shameless schemes to cozy up to the powerful.

Vivian arched her brow. Finally, Charles took the bait. Just what I wanted, she thought to herself.

Quentin already despised Charles, and now his fury was about to explode. He snapped, sending his men to ransack Maple Yard without a second thought.

It didn’t take long before the servants returned to Hearthstone Court, the head steward holding a thick stack of papers.

It was the very poetry manuscript Charles had mentioned.

Chapter 56

Your Grace, we found this in Lady Vivian’s bedroom, the steward said respectfully.

Quentin took the manuscript, flipped through it, and his usually composed face contorted with fury. He threw it at Vivian

with force.

Vivian, the evidence is right here. Are you still going to deny it?Quentin roared.

Celia gasped, her shoulders trembling, her eyes full of disappointment, like she just couldn’t believe Vivian would ever do something so shameful.

Nina stood beside Celia. Normally, Nina would be the first to throw shade at Vivian, but today she was acting weird, craning her neck, eyes darting toward the door.

Nina looked a bit nervous.

Vivian pressed her lips together. Something’s off. Nina’s acting way too strange. There’s definitely more to this than meets the eye,’ she thought..

Host, someone’s at the door, the System reminded Vivian in her mind.

Who is it?Vivian asked.

It’s Celia’s besties, Grace Sterling, the second daughter of the Marquis of Blackthorn, Patrick Sterling; Emily Shaw, the third daughter of the Shaw family; and your cousin, Luna Archer,” the System said.

Luna was Flora’s niece and the only heiress of the Archer family. Luna had a privileged status, but her temper left much to be desired.

Yet for some reason, Luna was always at Celia’s beck and call. Honestly, it was kind of odd.

And since Grace and Emily were so close with them, it was clear they were no better.

These socalled besties were convinced Vivian was calculating, vicious, and downright nasty, and they never missed a chance to mock or put her down.

Every time, Celia would always wait until the drama hit its peak before strolling in and stepping up to play the peacemaker.

Vivian never expected Luna and her clique to show up at Aurea Manor at a time like this.

‘What perfect timing,Vivian thought dryly.

Vivian didn’t even spare a glance at the manuscript lying on the floor.

She spoke slowly, drawing out each word for effect, Father, these poetry manuscripts are just my usual practice pieces. Someone with an agenda gathered them up and twisted them into proof just to drag me through the mud.

But there’s nothing dirty or suggestive in them, and not a single one has my name or any mark. So what do they really prove?

Someone with an agenda?Quentin scoffed. At this point, you still dare to make excuses? There’s no one with an agenda. It’s you, utterly shameless, humiliating our entire family with your disgraceful behavior.

Flora bent down, picked up the poetry manuscript from the floor, and spoke up against Quentin’s accusation. If you ask,me, these papers don’t actually prove anything,” she said.

Flora, don’t kid yourself. If Vivian and Charles really had nothing between them, how would he know about the poetry manuscript stashed in her room? He clearly knows her well enough to speak with such certainty,Quentin shot back.

Quentin gripped the cane tightly, his eyes fixed on Vivian with open hostility.

Vivian let out a laugh at Quentin’s ridiculous logic. He never cared about the truth, and he never cared about her. He only cared about getting the result he wanted.

Vivian met his gaze and said, Father, this whole thing is a setup. Someone’s targeting me on purpose. Don’t let yourself be manipulated by others and become their weapon.

As she said, Vivian shot a look at Sylvia.

Sylvia’s sobs cut off in an instant, leaving her looking awkward as hell.

Good thing Sylvia was quick to recover; she snatched up her silk handkerchief and dabbed at her eyes.

Sylvia always managed to cry so beautifully, playing the perfect image of a softhearted mom. No one ever suspected a thing.

Why are you staring at Sylvia like that? What? You think she’d ever set you up?Quentin sneered.

Quentin shoved Flora aside, brandishing the cane, ready to teach Vivian a lesson.

Not only is she ugly, but she’s also downright vicious,Quentin thought. If she’d learned even a hint of Sylvia’s kindness and gentle ways, she wouldn’t have ended up like this.

Those gifts from His Majesty and Daphne have made Vivian arrogant and proud. Vivian needs a hard lesson to teach her some humility and keep her in line. I am Vivian’s father, and I’m only doing this for her own good.’

Quentin wanted Vivian to understand the proper virtues for a woman, obedience to her father before marriage, to her husband after, and never causing trouble or disgrace.

Just then, Luna swept into the courtyard, with Grace and Emily flanking her like loyal sidekicks.

Luna looped her arm through Flora’s, making sure Flora couldn’t step in and stop Quentin from laying down the family law.

Aunt Flora, I’ve heard the rumors for ages that you registered a girl under your name. I never believed it. Guess it’s true after all,Luna said.

Luna, what are you doing here?Flora demanded.

Aunt Flora, did you forget? Today is Celia’s birthday. As her elder cousin, I brought a birthday gift and came all the way here to celebrate with our little birthday star,Luna replied.
