Her Gilded Revenge For Stolen Fate novel Chapter 58

Chapter 58

De vouchers

Uncle Quentin, Lady Vivian was just freaked out by the family disciplines. She’s just spouting nonsense. What evidence is there, really?Luna said.

There was a smile on Luna’s lips, but her eyes glinted with malice, dark and murky.

Flora couldn’t help but scold her. Luna, this is the Snyder family’s family business. It has nothing to do with you.

Aunt Flora, saying that really hurts me. I’ve always thought of you and Uncle Quentin as my parents, and Celia is my only cousin. We’re all family. Why are you treating me like an outsider?Luna said.

As she spoke, Luna cozily hooked her arm around Celia’s, her smile warm and harmless, pure as ever.

Even though Beatrice felt Luna didn’t know her place, because of the Archer family’s ties, Beatrice couldn’t just ask Luna to leave.

Let it be. I just hope Vivian can truly prove her innocence and not let this affect her future, Beatrice thought to herself.

Emily walked over to Vivian and pressed her. Lady Vivian, what are you waiting for? It’s Celia’s birthday. We really shouldn’t keep dragging this out. Please, just show us the evidence already.

Emily, like everyone else, was sure Vivian was just making things up.

Everyone knew Vivian had always been at odds with Celia.

Putting the younger sister down was basically a way to get on the older one’s good side.

Emily had always tried to win Celia’s favor; there was no way she’d let a golden opportunity like this slip by.

Vivian’s innocence and reputation were the last things on Emily’s mind.

Miss Shaw, are you really that eager to see the evidence?Vivian asked, her lips curling into a sly, teasing smile.

It’s just that you’ve been keeping everyone guessing, Lady Vivian. If someone didn’t know better, they might think you’re just playing everyone for fools,Emily said.

Vivian pointed toward the door. The witness is right there. Miss Shaw, could you please bring them in?

Emily gave Vivian a skeptical look.

Vivian was way too calm and composed, nothing like her usual timid, useless self.

How did she change so much in just a few months?Emily wondered.

Emily’s face twitched, a wave of panic rising inside her. She bit down hard on her tongue, forcing herself to stay calm.

Vivian is just some lowly illegitimate girl. Even if she lucked out and got His Majesty’s favor, she’s still got that tainted blood in her veins,Emily thought with a sneer.

No one important would ever stick their neck out for her, Emily scoffed inwardly. If anyone gets dragged into this mess, it’ll be hard to get out clean.

Fine, I’ll go. Lady Vivian, let’s see who you managed to drag in after all this fuss,Emily said with a cold snort. She lifted her skirts with both hands and strode forward..

As soon as she stepped over the threshold, Emily saw two women standing on the stone steps. One was dressed as a maid, probably a servant from Aurea Manor.

The other wore a pale pink dress and a veiled nat, ner face completely much.

What surprised Emily most was the woman in pink’s belly, rounded and prominently swollen. She was clearly several months pregnant and would be due any day now.

Is Vivian seriously this clueless? Dragging in a pregnant woman. What could she possibly prove with that?Emily sneered inwardly. This is just going to turn her into a laughingstock.

Let’s go,Emily said. She waved the two women over and led them back to the front courtyard.

As the women approached, everyone else stayed calm, but Charles went sheetwhite, looking like he’d seen a ghost. He was so terrified that it was as if his guts were about to spill out, and he collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

Charles, what’s wrong?Sylvia asked anxiously.

I’m fine,Charles mumbled.

Charles scrambled up, practically crawling, his jaw clenched so hard that his face twitched. He didn’t dare glance at Vivian, not even for a split second.

To him, Vivian looked like a fiend that had clawed her way out of the deepest pit of hell.

Charles felt a chill crawl over his skin. He never would’ve guessed Vivian’s cunning ran this deep; it was honestly terrifying.

She actually found Celine,Charles thought. She must’ve seen through my whole scheme from the very start. I’m screwed. What am I supposed to do now?

Celia didn’t recognize Celine, but she was keenly observant. The moment she saw cold sweat breaking out on Charles’s forehead, she instantly sensed trouble.

Who could this woman be, to terrify Charles like that?Celia wondered.

Judith curtsied. My lady, I’m honored to have completed the task and brought Celine Yates back to the manor.”

Celine?Sylvia muttered quietly.

She thought hard, but couldn’t remember any pregnant lady from a noble house named Celine.

She probably isn’t from any aristocratic family,Sylvia thought to herself.

Vivian, aren’t you going to clear things up?Quentin said.

Right now, all he wanted was to give Vivian a good talkingto and remind her who was in charge; she was getting way too bold, acting like she didn’t have to answer to anyone.

Father, just now Mr. Linden kept insisting that he and I were in love, even using those poetry manuscripts as evidence of our relationship, right?Vivian said slowly.

Quentin forced himself to hold back his anger and nodded.

But what if Mr. Linden was never in love with me, but with someone else all along?Vivian pressed.

Celia’s heart lurched. She stepped forward quickly, trying to cut Vivian off before she could say more.

But Vivian had no intention of letting her stop her.

Vivian rushed over to Celine and pulled off her veil, revealing a face so similar to Celia’s that it was almost uncanny.

Celine let out a startled cry and tried to run, but Judith kept a firm grip on her, not letting her move an inch.

Celine looked at Charles, her voice trembling, full of desperation. Charlie?

Everyone’s eyes were locked on Celine’s face; they just couldn’t look away.

It was like iron drawn to a magnet, impossible to break free.

After a while, their gazes shifted to Celia. Wow, they look almost identical, they wondered.

Celia was stunning and graceful, like a moon shining high above, untouchable, serene, and otherworldly.

Celine, on the other hand, was gentle and graceful. Her quiet charm lingered in the heart.

Their temperaments were worlds apart, but they looked so much alike that it was almost freaky, like they’d been stamped out of the same mold.

Everyone present was sharp and experienced, having seen their share of backroom scandals, so of course, they could easily guess who the woman in pink was.

She was obviously Charles’s kept mistress, just someone he kept around for fun. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have turned to Charlie for help just now.

For a man to keep a mistress before marriage was just a sign of loose morals, nothing that would really ruin a reputation.

Of all things, this woman looked so much like Quentin’s beloved daughter; no wonder everyone would jump to conclusions.

Celia stared at Charles in disbelief, her mind completely blank.

How could he humiliate me like this?Celia wondered. He actually kept a lookalike, a nobody with no name or status, and even knocked her up. Absolutely disgraceful.

If this gets out, my reputation will be completely trashed. How will I ever be able to hold my head up again?

Celia shook her head, stumbling backward like she was about to collapse, totally unable to handle the shock.

Luna stood nearby, her expression dark as she glared at Vivian. This is your doing, isn’t it?

Vivian blinked, her crystalclear eyes shining, but her words left Luna feeling utterly humiliated.

Miss Archer, the way you say it, you’d think I’m the villain here,Vivian replied. But don’t forget. It was you all who tried to pin the charge of secretly meeting a man on me, and you were the ones clamoring for proof.

Now the evidence is right here. Celine’s presence alone shows that Mr. Linden’s heart was never with me. Isn’t this enough proof for you?
