Her Tears Are His Weakness novel Chapter 140

The study door was slightly ajar. Samantha peeked inside through the gap.

Under the lamp's soft glow, Leonardo had his eyes closed, his long fingers pinching the bridge of his nose as if trying to ease his tension. After working for so long, he looked utterly exhausted.

This was the first time Samantha had ever seen him like this. Every time she had seen him before, he had always seemed so composed, confident, and full of energy—so much so that she almost believed being a CEO was effortless, that money simply flowed into his pockets while he sat back and relaxed.

She had forgotten that he was human too and could get tired.

Samantha lifted her hand and knocked gently on the door.

Hearing the sound, Leonardo opened his eyes and glanced toward the doorway. The moment he saw her, he subconsciously smiled. "You're back."

"Hmm."

It was just a simple exchange, yet it filled Samantha with an unexpected warmth. The feeling of coming home to someone waiting for her was oddly comforting. Even though she knew none of this was real, she could at least pretend it was in this moment.

"You haven't eaten dinner yet, have you?"

"Hmm."

"Were you waiting for me?"

Leonardo shifted his gaze, swiping at his tablet. "I just wasn't hungry."

A sudden growl broke the silence of the study. The room was so quiet that the sound was unmistakable—it came from his stomach.

He cleared his throat, attempting to cover up his embarrassment. Closing his tablet, he stood up with practiced ease.

"I wasn't hungry before. I just got hungry now. Since you're back, we might as well eat together."

Still standing by the door, Samantha hesitated before asking carefully, "I know this might not be the best time to bring it up, but it's almost 8:00 pm. I'm worried my registration didn't go through. Could you check for me?"

"It went through."

At the mention of food, Samantha instantly snapped to attention. Like a trigger had been pulled, she bolted toward the dining room.

"Of course! I'll heat the dishes up!"

Determined to be helpful, she scurried into the kitchen, ready to help. But after fiddling around for a while, she realized that she had no idea how to use any of these high-tech appliances.

Why was even the microwave so complicated? It had countless buttons, each with a different function. There were symbols, but there also seemed to be different ways to press them—tap, long press, swipe…

"I'll do it."

Leonardo stepped in effortlessly, pressing a few buttons while explaining, "You should know how to do this yourself when I'm not home."

"Alright. I'll make sure to learn." Samantha listened intently, committing everything to memory.

Leonardo glanced at her. "But since you know how to cook, you might not need this anyway. Freshly made food is always better."
