Samantha was speechless. Leonardo had a way of bringing up the one thing she didn't want to talk about.
She didn't actually know how to cook. That had just been a little trick to get closer to him back then. She had thought it was nothing more than a passing moment, but apparently, he remembered.
Awkwardly, she replied, "I don't cook often, so I still need this."
"You don't cook often, but it's really good when you do. That's impressive."
"Thanks..."
Samantha suddenly felt guilty, keeping her head down to avoid meeting his eyes.
The two worked together to reheat the dishes—Samantha was in charge of arranging the dishes, while Leonardo handled the microwave. Their coordination was seamless, and the table was filled with steaming hot food in no time. She even served them both rice. Finally, they could eat.
With all the day's troubles settled, Samantha was free to enjoy her meal.
By now, it was already past 8:00 pm, but she wasn't paying any attention to the time. Leonardo, however, picked up his phone and opened an email that had arrived right on schedule.
The attached folder was massive, filled with countless documents. There were lists categorized by school, company, and region.
At a glance, it looked like over 100 thousand people had signed up for the audition. However, only a few would be shortlisted.
Leonardo quickly located the list for Jedo Academy of the Arts. Scanning through the Department of Drama, he found Samantha's name.
"Didn't expect you to pull this off."
"What?"
Samantha was busy enjoying her food. Even responding to him took some effort, and it was proof of her utmost respect.
Leonardo turned his phone toward her. "Your name's on the list. You made it."
She glanced at the screen and, unsurprised, kept eating. "I knew she wouldn't dare go against me."
He studied her with interest. "You threatened her, didn't you?"
"Hmm." Her cheeks were stuffed full, making her look like a little puffed-up dolphin as she gave a nonchalant hum of agreement. She was brazen, even without justification.
Leonardo tried to stop her. "You can just leave them. Someone will take care of it tomorrow."
"If they sit out overnight, they'll start to smell. I'll just put them in the kitchen."
"Alright." He gave a slight nod and then unexpectedly stood up to help.
Samantha quickly waved him off. "It's fine. I can handle it myself. You should get back to work."
"We ate together, so we'll clean up together."
She pursed her lips. Truthfully, she felt like she was freeloading. She was living and eating here but contributing nothing. Helping out with small tasks like this was her way of proving her worth.
But what he said wasn't wrong. Even if their marriage was fake, sharing household responsibilities was natural when living under the same roof.
So, she decided not to overthink it. Flashing a grin, she nodded. "You're right. We'll get it done faster together."
Leonardo hummed in response.
