Her Tears Are His Weakness novel Chapter 164

As they waited at a red light, Leonardo sent a quick text.

Samantha suddenly asked, "Weren't you supposed to be in Aclos until tonight? What brought you back early?"

"The inspection wrapped up, and the meeting got canceled," he replied. "So I came back."

Meanwhile, Simon was still on the plane. He would have to deal with all the fallout.

Such was the life of an overworked executive assistant. With the president gone, he'd have to represent the company at the meeting.

Samantha pressed further. "And how did you know about my final performance today?"

Leonardo hesitated before answering. "Your academy president invited me. I wasn't planning to come, but I happened to be passing by."

Samantha pouted. Passing by? Since when did Leonardo have so many coincidental detours?

It seemed to be a coincidence every time. Yet she couldn't help but feel happy. Having him there for her big performance meant everything to her.

Leonardo could sense Samantha's joy as she hummed an off-key tune with unintelligible lyrics.

"Oh, and—"

"Hmm?" Samantha turned to him and asked, "What is it?"

"There's a family gathering at the Garrett residence the day after tomorrow."

Samantha immediately straightened in her seat, her previously relaxed posture gone rigid. If getting their marriage certificate had felt like a casual game, this was the real challenge.

Samantha tensed, a look of grim determination crossing her features. "Don't worry. I'll be on my best behavior."

Seeing her tension, Leonardo reassured her, "You don't need to be so nervous. It'll be fine."

"Yeah."

Hopefully.

Samantha had been trying to schedule a celebratory dinner forever before finally nailing down a date. They settled on a barbecue joint—Samantha's ultimate comfort food.

"You were supposed to let me treat you somewhere fancy," Layla chided as they sat down. "Yet you picked barbecue? Do you even know what a golden opportunity you're wasting?"

Samantha grinned and replied, "I don't want expensive—I want delicious. And this place is the best."

"Order whatever your heart desires."

"Can I get the entire menu?"

Layla laughed. "Knock yourself out."

Though Samantha couldn't actually finish an entire menu's worth of food, she'd loaded their table with plate after plate of glistening red meats, the vibrant colors making every dish look irresistibly appetizing.

As the servers kept bringing out their orders, Samantha suddenly said, "I did some digging for you. The Reed family isn't that complicated—their standards for daughters-in-law aren't unreasonable at all. Why not give Ethan a chance? If it doesn't work out, you can always walk away later."

Lalyla's expression darkened. She shook her head, her smile turning bitter. "You don't know about my past. Ethan and I will never be together."
