He's an Alpha: She doesn't Care (Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 23

She’s Beyond His Rule 23 Summary Wynta’s day was marked by mounting frustration after being unexpectedly bested by Jared, an outcome she never anticipated. Her tension escalated when Carlotti burst into her office, aggressively confronting her with accusations and insults. Carlotti, clearly agitated and contemptuous, claimed Wynta didn’t belong in the pack, criticized her treatment of Jared, and asserted ownership over a dress Jared had given her.

The confrontation quickly turned hostile as Carlotti accused Wynta of causing trouble that led to punishments within the pack, including lashes Carlotti herself had endured. The conflict intensified when Carlotti physically attacked Wynta, slapping her and threatening further violence if Wynta spoke about her secret relationship with Jared before an official announcement. Wynta, defending herself, revealed her rogue nature and refused to accept pack punishment or intimidation.

The altercation ended with Carlotti storming out, threatening to have Wynta fired despite not being an employee herself. Wynta was left injured and frustrated, grappling with pain and the chaos Carlotti had caused in her office. Despite the turmoil, Wynta maintained her composure and continued working, reflecting on her role in the pack and her positive relationships with her team. She felt unfairly targeted and was determined to handle the situation calmly.

Later, Dwane, Carlotti’s stepbrother, arrived to address the incident, assuring Wynta that it would be dealt with and that she would have a chance to defend herself. He planned to gather witness statements and review the office footage, which Wynta had already saved, to clarify the events. Wynta also considered the complex pack dynamics and laws surrounding succession and mating, realizing Carlotti misunderstood key details about Jared’s position and rights within the pack.

She reflected on the intricate blend of personal feelings and strict protocols that governed their world, recognizing that beneath the surface of rigid rules were deep loyalties and emotional conflicts complicating every interaction. Jared had bested her-something she never anticipated he would even attempt.

Time seemed to crawl, turning her patience thin, and the situation only worsened when Carlotti stormed into her office, her voice sharp and grating as she spat out Wynta’s name like a curse. Without hesitation, Carlotti slammed the door behind her, her fierce gaze locking onto Wynta as she marched over to the desk. “Who the hell do you think you are?” she demanded, her tone dripping with contempt. Wynta reclined slightly in her chair, studying the she-wolf with a mixture of confusion and curiosity. She had no clue what Carlotti wanted or why she was so agitated.

“What brings you to my office with such unpleasantness?” Wynta asked, her voice calm but edged with intrigue. Carlotti sneered. “You don’t belong here. You aren’t even part of the pack. No one wants you around. And how dare you speak to Jared like that? You treat him with such disrespect. And that dress-it’s mine now. He gave it to me. It suits me far better than it ever could you. You couldn’t possibly choose something that nice on your own.” Wynta raised an eyebrow, a slow smile playing at the corners of her mouth. “Are you certain about that, Carlotti?” she replied coolly.

Carlotti’s eyes narrowed. “You made him waste pack resources on you, all because you foolishly took yourself away and got injured. Do you even know he was shamed and punished because of you? And I was punished too!” Wynta’s brow furrowed with genuine surprise. “I didn’t know. Why were you punished?” she asked, genuinely curious. “What did you do to upset your own Alpha? Somehow, Carlotti, I don’t think this is my fault. I never even saw you that day, so…” She shrugged lightly. With a sudden slam of her fist on the desk, Carlotti’s glare intensified.

“The Alpha blamed my broken-down car for your absence. So, I was lashed as well because Jared had to drop you off to come get me. Of course, he would do that. Not only am I the beta’s youngest daughter, but we’re secretly dating.” Wynta smirked. “Not so secret now if you’re telling me.” Carlotti’s voice dropped to a threatening growl. “You’ll say nothing, or I’ll have you beaten.

In fact, if you utter a single word before Jared officially announces it, I’ll have you fired.” Wynta regarded the Jared-obsessed she-wolf with quiet amusement and said evenly, “I thought Edward was fine with his sons dating whoever they pleased, as long as they didn’t mark and mate unless they were Fate Mates.” She knew this well. Ethan, after all, was quite the playboy, cycling through girlfriends every few months without any judgment from the pack. Carlotti scoffed. “Well, now that Lance is mated, the position of Heir is his.

So Jared can mark and mate whoever he wants.” Wynta chuckled softly. “Looks like he’s already got himself a prize of a girlfriend,” she said with a shake of her head. “But you don’t need to come in here and act like you own the place, Carlotti. I’m not interested in your so-called boyfriend. Honestly, I don’t see it. Jared doesn’t strike me as the type to date a woman-human or otherwise-who lacks education and a job.” Carlotti snarled in response, her temper flaring as she swept Wynta’s belongings off the desk, sending papers and personal items crashing to the floor.

“You’re a real bitch and don’t deserve any of the attention Edward and Jared give you.” Wynta sighed, looking down at the scattered mess. She wasn’t yet able to crouch and retrieve her things-her knee still too painful to bend properly. “Did you really have to do that?” she said, disappointment clear in her voice. “Can’t you just act like an adult and talk to me like a normal person instead of throwing a childish tantrum over something I had nothing to do with and didn’t even know about?” She rose from her chair and moved toward the side of her desk, only to find Carlotti blocking her path.

“Three lashes I took. So, three hits you’ll take,” Carlotti spat out before slapping Wynta hard across the face. Wynta instinctively dodged the second strike, anger bubbling fiercely inside her. Reacting on pure instinct, she lashed out with both hands, grabbing Carlotti’s blouse and yanking her forward until their faces were mere inches apart. “You forget I’m a rogue,” she hissed, her voice low and dangerous. “I won’t take this shit, and I won’t accept pack punishment either.” The words stunned Carlotti, leaving her momentarily off balance.
