Chapter 748 Extra 17
Zoey’s POV
Dinner as couples had been easy. Full of laughter that didn’t take effort. One of those rare moments where it felt like the whole world could stay outside for a few hours.
Christian and I got back to the apartment in Beldora still wrapped in that comfortable feeling of “we made the day fit into something beautiful.” He walked in taking off his watch, dropping his keys on the console table like it was some ordinary domestic scene. Which was almost funny, because nothing about our life was actually ordinary. Not even when we tried.
I went straight to the bathroom and took a quick shower.
Skincare before bed was my way of telling my nervous system: it’s over. You can breathe now.
I tied my hair back, washed my face, and started lining up the products on the counter with a level of care that, I know, probably looks excessive to anyone who doesn’t get it. To me, it was ritual. It was care. It was me being myself without having to prove anything to anyone.
Christian showed up at the bathroom door while I was slowly massaging cleanser into my skin.
He leaned against the frame, arms crossed, watching me like I was performing alchemy.
“Okay,” he said, a crooked smile on his lips. “You’re gonna have to explain this.”
I dried my face and looked at him through the mirror.
“Explain what?”
“How you manage to have a routine this… consistent,” he said, like he was talking about productivity metrics. “You do this every single day.”
“That’s why it works,” I said, patting my skin dry. “And also because I like it.”
Christian stepped closer, curious.
“And what if I wanted to learn?”
I raised an eyebrow.
“Do you actually want to learn… or are you just looking for an excuse to stay close to me while I get pretty?”
He let out a low laugh.
“Both. And you don’t get pretty. You are pretty. Beautiful.”
I smiled.
“Then come in. Close the door.”

Christian stepped inside like he was accepting a serious challenge. He pulled his shirt off, because he had this habit of making anything more interesting just by existing like that. Then he leaned against the counter beside me, eyeing the products.
“Is all of this made from grapes?” he asked, picking up a bottle like it was a contract.
“Not all of it,” I said, taking it from his hand before he dropped it. “But tonight’s lesson is about grapes, yes.”
“Private lesson?” he teased.
I turned to face him.
“You’re going to stand still and do exactly what I say.”
His eyes lit up.
“Always.”
I grabbed the toner and soaked a cotton pad.
“First, proper cleansing. Did you wash your face?”
“I did,” he said, with the seriousness of a man who had just accomplished something heroic.
“Good,” I said, gently sweeping the cotton across his skin. “Now don’t move.”
He froze. Almost comically still.
“You look like a soldier waiting for orders,” I commented.
“I’m a husband trying not to mess up around a pregnant woman,” he corrected.
I laughed.
“Alright. Next step.”
I picked up the serum and dropped a couple of drops onto my fingertips.
“This has grape extract and a bunch of things you’d call ‘chemicals’ and I call ‘well-formulated miracles.”
“I’d call it whatever you want if it makes you happy,” Christian said.
“It does,” I replied, and started smoothing the serum over his face with soft, careful movements.
His skin was warm under my hands, and I felt his jaw slowly relax, like he’d been programmed for this.
“Okay,” I said, slipping into teacher mode. “Think of polyphenols as the grape’s antioxidant shield.”
Christian gave me a look that said I’m following.
“Grapes produce those compounds to protect themselves from the sun, from stress, things like that,” I

“It’s… it’s beautiful,” I managed, my voice soft and a little unsteady. “Christian… thank you.”
He stepped closer, took the necklace from the box, and moved behind me.
“It’s to mark a new chapter,” he said, fastening it gently at the back of my neck.
I felt the pendant settle against my chest, and a shiver ran through me.
“A chapter where you see grapes differently,” he added.
