Chapter 746 Extra 15

Zoey’s POV

I still couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment my morning in London-which had started with a pregnancy

test on the sink and me trying not to pass out-turned into an international operation.

But somehow, before I knew it, we were all on the Kensington jet, heading to Valentia.

And when I say “all,” I mean all.

The adults. The kids. The nannies. And… Ginger.

Ginger was stretched out in the most spacious part of the cabin, wearing that confident look of a dog who was born to be loved and sneak forbidden snacks. Matt was so thrilled she was there, he seemed to have forgotten he’d just switched countries like it was nothing more than changing rooms.

“Mom, look!” he announced, at three years old and fully convinced that anything new in the world existed purely to be shown to me. “Ginger’s with me!”

“I see, baby,” I said, kissing the top of his head.

I kissed Matt so often it should probably be illegal in some countries.

His nanny-who had come from Verdania with Christian-was organizing toys, snacks, and a tablet set to low volume like she was performing a ritual designed to keep a toddler happy during a transatlantic flight.

Across from us, Annie and Nate were whispering about nap schedules and “which nanny takes which kid

like they were in a board meeting. Matthew sat beside Mia, their fingers laced together as they talked quietly, laughing about something only the two of them understood.

And Christian.

Christian sat next to me like this whole situation was completely normal. Wife just found out she’s pregnant. Entire family on a jet. Dog onboard. Destination: Valentia.

He looked way too calm.

Which, coming from him, was always suspicious.

That’s when he turned to me with that look he uses when he’s about to ask for something without making it sound like an order.

“Hey…” he started.

I raised an eyebrow.

“Here it comes.”

Christian let out a short,laugh.

“Would it be okay if we made a quick stop in Beldora?”

“Beldora?” I repeated. The word felt strange in my mouth, like it should be food, not a city. “Why?”

He met my gaze, steady.

“First part of your surprise.”

My heart skipped. In a good way.

“Oh,” I said, feeling my face light up despite myself. “So that’s why you’ve had that look. Like you something I don’t.”

“I always know something you don’t,” he teased.

“Christian,” I warned, but I was smiling.

He tilted his head slightly, like he was negotiating.

“It’s less than a day. Matt can go ahead with the nanny and his uncles. You come with me.”

My hand tightened around his without thinking.

“I don’t like being away from my son,” I admitted.

Christian nodded like that was a proven fact.

“I know. You’re a total mama bear.”

“And you’re not exactly slacking as a dad.”

know

He smiled, that quiet, satisfied kind of smile of someone who pretends compliments don’t affect him.

“But…” he added, leaning closer, his mouth near my ear like the secret would be safer against my skin,” I’m also a very attentive husband.”

I let out a soft laugh.

“An attentive husband?”

“A husband who wants you close,” he said simply. “And your surprise starts there.”

A delicious kind of anticipation spread through me.

“Fine,” I gave in, lifting both hands in mock surrender. “Okay. Now I’m curious.”

Some time later, the jet made the promised stop.

Only Christian and I got off. Matt stayed onboard with the nanny and his uncles. I caught a glimpse of his little face through the window, already distracted, pointing at something, forgetting that not long ago he wouldn’t leave my arms.

I hesitated for a second at the top of the stairs, breathing in the cool Beldora air and reminding myself: it’s just a few hours.

Christian came up beside me and rested a hand on my waist.

“Come on,” he said.

The car drove us through elegant streets into a neighborhood that had that kind of classic beauty. Well- kept buildings. Subtle storefronts. Tree-lined sidewalks.

Christian led me into a building with a discreet entrance. We went up. And the second the door opened, I knew this wasn’t just a “quick stop.”

The apartment was spacious and bright, with a view that looked like a painting. The living room had massive windows, and the light poured in soft and calm.

Christian watched me, waiting.

“So?” he asked. “What do you think?”

I blinked.

“What do I think about what?”

He smiled like I was the cutest thing in the world for not catching on right away.

“For us,” he said. “Spending about six months here.”

My brain took a second to catch up.

“Six months?” I repeated, the words hitting my chest. “But… you want to leave the vineyard in Southridge?”

“It’s temporary,” he said, his voice steady, like this had been decided long ago. “And it’s big enough for everyone.”

He nodded toward the hallway.

“There’s a room for your parents too, of course. If they want to visit… or even stay.”

Christian reached up and gently touched my face.

“I thought of everything,” he said.

I was still trying to come up with a response when he took my hand and pulled me along.

“Come on. There’s more.”

He led me into another room that looked like an office. A large desk, shelves, even a small bar tucked into the corner.

Christian opened a folder like a lawyer presenting evidence.

He pulled out a few documents and set them on the desk.

I stepped closer, curious.

“What is this?” I asked, reading and rereading like the Valentian words might rearrange themselves into something more familiar. “Enrollment papers?”

Christian nodded.

“For both of us.”

I looked up, confused.

“In a course in…” I read again, then let out a surprised laugh. “Cosmetology?”

I was not prepared for Christian showing interest in anything that didn’t involve numbers, strategy, or legacy.

But he looked completely, ridiculously pleased.

“Exactly.”

“Christian,” I laughed again, still in shock. “You realize this is completely out of character for you.”

“It’s your new passion, isn’t it?” he said, brushing off my teasing. “You’re always working on your grape- based creations.”

My chest warmed.

“Yeah,” I admitted, a little proud. “I love it.”

I flipped through the papers again.

“But… you?”

Christian stepped closer, and his answer came too easily to argue with.

“I love you.”

His hand settled at my waist.

“And I want to be right there with you.”
