He made sure to confirm with Albert, just in case Elnora might overhear.

Albert’s expression turned cold in an instant.

“Get lost,” Albert snapped.

Hearing Albert’s response, Kaelin felt sure about his guess and shot a grin at Benedict as he spoke.

“See? I told you he wouldn’t win Ms. Finley over that fast. He’s probably itching to get close, but all he can do

is look from afar-can’t touch, can’t have her. Bet he’s feeling pretty restless right now,” Kaelin joked.

Kaelin’s words really hit a nerve, and Albert was visibly pissed off.

“Kaelin, you’re dead meat,” Albert growled.

Kaelin gave a mocking laugh and said, “Albert, don’t get so touchy. Can’t you take a joke?”

Albert’s forehead veins were practically pulsing with rage.

Benedict chimed in, “Alright, Albert’s already annoyed because he has to sleep alone. Why are you messing with him? If he storms over and roughs you up, don’t look at me for backup.”

Kaelin let out a mocking laugh.

“Albert probably has to check in with Ms. Finley before he can even leave the room, huh?” he snickered.

He never thought the bed was cold before, but after getting teased by those two, the warmth seemed to vanish, leaving him feeling extra lonely.

He kicked off the covers and got up, went downstairs to get some water. As he passed by Elnora’s room, he slowed down and lingered at her door for a moment.

After pausing there, he finally headed downstairs.

After drinking some water, he filled another glass and carried it upstairs.

The food tonight was pretty salty, and since Elnora had a sprained ankle, it’d be tough for her to go downstairs for water.

Carrying the glass of water, Albert made his way to Elnora’s room. He quietly opened the door and slipped inside.

Elnora was curled up on her side, fast asleep.

Albert tiptoed over and set the glass on her nightstand, moving with extra care so he wouldn’t disturb her sleep.

After setting down the glass, Albert looked down at Elnora for a moment.

The hallway light spilled into the room, casting a soft glow over her.

Albert leaned in, his face just inches from Elnora’s.

Elnora’s eyelashes fluttered, and Albert quickly pulled back.

He played it cool and walked out of Elnora’s room. At the doorway, he paused and glanced back one last time.

Elnora remained perfectly still, not stirring at all.

Albert breathed out in relief and gently closed the door behind him.

As soon as the door closed behind him, Albert felt stifled-like something was holding him back.

Elnora was his wife, after all.

‘Seriously, what’s so wrong about a husband kissing his own wife?’ he grumbled to himself, feeling even more annoyed.

Albert scratched his head in annoyance and made his way back to his own room.

In the master bedroom, the moment Albert closed the door, Elnora opened her eyes in the darkness.

When Reese gave her those instructions, the maid had thought it was a bit odd.

But seeing Albert now, it was clear he already had feelings for Elnora.

Still, Albert had always been proud and stubborn. Who knew when Elnora would finally be able to tame his temper?

Elnora stepped out of the walk-in closet, now dressed in the new gown.

The maid rushed over, sweeping Elnora’s long, wavy hair to one side and making sure the dress looked perfect.
