Elnora and Albert entered Reese’s private room one after the other. The seat Elnora had been sitting in earlier had already been swapped out for a two-seater.
Reese shot Albert a cold look and spoke in a chilly tone, “It’s only the first day I’ve brought Elnora out, and you’re already causing trouble? Can’t you just behave yourself?”
Albert didn’t respond to Reese. He simply strode over and took a seat.
Elnora strolled over and noticed that the single seat she’d been sitting in earlier had been swapped out for a two-seater. But this two-seater was pretty cramped, both in terms of space and where it was set up.
Reese noticed Elnora had stepped out and come back with Albert’s suit jacket draped over her shoulders, so she asked, sounding concerned, “Elnora, are you cold?”
Elnora shook her head a little. “I’m fine.” Since the dress she was wearing was a gift from Reese, she couldn’t really admit that it had ripped.
Reese shifted her gaze from Elnora to Albert. Albert stayed calm and came up with an excuse on the spot. “The dress ripped, so I had to cover it up,” he said.
Reese saw right through him but let it slide.
Albert turned to Elnora, moved over a bit to make room, and said quietly, “Come on, sit down.”
Elnora gave a small nod and walked over, taking a seat right next to Albert. As soon as she sat down, her shoulder was pressed right against his.
A small smile tugged at the corner of Albert’s lips as he leaned back in his seat.
Elnora sat upright, her gaze fixed on the auction items below. Albert naturally rested his arm along the backrest of their shared seat.
From across the room, it looked as if he had his arm around Elnora.
Reese’s private room was directly across from Kaelin’s. Kaelin caught sight of Albert’s secretly pleased expression and let out a snort, leaning over to whisper to Benedict.
“He hasn’t even managed to put his arm around Ms. Finley yet, and he’s already so happy. Since when did Albert become so easy to please?”
Benedict raised an eyebrow and replied with a smile. “Albert really owes it all to Mrs. Campbell; having mom in your corner makes all the difference. If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t even have a shot at sitting next to Ms. Finley right now.”
Kaelin cracked up at Benedict’s comment.
Kamron glanced over at Albert. Albert had his head down, quietly saying something to Elnora that only she
could hear.

Elnora turned slightly toward him, her eyes cast downward as she listened. Her expression was soft, a far cry from the fierce, intimidating aura she’d shown yesterday.
Kamron smirked, picked up his glass, and took a sip. Stella sat next to Kamron, her hands clenched tightly in her lap.
The hem of her dress was creased from how hard she was gripping it. Watching Albert act this way left a sour taste in her mouth. Albert had never tried so hard to win over a woman before.
The auction finally came to an end. Reese stood up and turned to Elnora. “Let me introduce you to some people around your age in a bit.”
Elnora nodded softly, agreeing. “Okay, Mom.”
Albert looked up at Reese and said, “Why don’t I introduce her to some people her age, Mom?”
Reese shot him a look and replied coolly, “Weren’t you always the one who hated these events?”
Albert replied, “It’s not really networking if I’m just helping my wife meet people in our circle.”
Reese gave a small huff. “Well, you brought this on yourself.”
Albert replied, “Of course.”
As he spoke, Albert got up from his seat, turned to Elnora, and reached out his hand. “Come on, Ms. Finley,” he said.
Elnora slipped her hand into Albert’s palm, and he tightened his grip, pulling her up from the seat. As they made their way downstairs, passing the steps, Albert asked softly, “Does your foot still hurt, Ms. Finley?”
Elnora shook her head. “Thanks to you, it’s fine now, Mr. Campbell,” she replied.
Albert just smiled and didn’t say anything, gently guiding her hand to rest on his arm as they walked down the stairs together.
As Albert led Elnora into the hall, curious and puzzled looks followed them wherever they went.
People had wondered if Elnora and Albert were having problems, but now they seemed to be getting along just fine. Standing side by side, the handsome man and the beautiful woman looked like a couple straight out of a magazine.
Reese was chatting with a group of other ladies. When she saw Albert leading Elnora around, mingling with the next generation of heirs, a satisfied smile tugged at her lips.
One of the ladies beside Reese noticed her gaze lingering on Elnora and chimed in with a compliment. “Mrs. Campbell, you really have great taste. Your daughter-in-law is a real beauty, and she’s got that same elegance you had when you were younger.”
Reese smiled and clinked her glass with the other lady. “Albert really hit the jackpot,” she said.
“Those two look so sweet together; it’s like they’re a match made in heaven,” another lady chimed in.
