Alicia followed the voice and glanced over the railing. Her gaze collided with the man’s downstairs. The corner of her mouth twitched into an awkward smile. “What a… coincidence.”

Austin tilted his head up at her, the corners of his lips curving into a deadly calm smile. “Not really. I came here for you. Missed that kid already after a few days apart?”

“I swear, I’m only here to see my girlfriends-not Finn.”

“Finn?” Austin’s tone was mild, but the faint smile that followed sent a chill down her spine. “So you’re on a first-name basis?”

Now she was really doomed. Things wouldn’t have escalated if she had just told the truth-now, lying only made her guilt look worse.

“I’ll come down and explain.”

She hung up and hurried down the stairs-only to have someone step in front of her halfway. A clean-cut young man stood there, looking at her pitifully. “Alicia, do you remember me?”

“Finn, right?”

His eyes instantly lit up. “Alicia, how do you know my name? I’ve been thinking about you these past few days.”

“Sorry about last time. I’ll buy you a drink another day. But right now…” She tried to brush past him, but Finn suddenly grabbed her wrist. “Alicia, take me away with you, please?”

Before she could answer, a familiar yet startling voice came from behind her. “Alicia?”

She turned around-and froze when she saw David standing there, eyes red with emotion.

D*mn it, what’s he doing here?

“Alicia, I finally found you.” His gaze dropped to where Finn’s hand gripped her wrist, and his expression instantly turned glacial. “Take your filthy hands off her!”

Just perfect. When it rains, it pours. One misunderstanding with Finn was bad enough, and now this guy shows up too. Alicia grumbled. She hadn’t planned to see David so soon-but fate clearly had other ideas.

David glared at Finn. “Get lost.”

Though reluctant, Finn knew better than to challenge someone like David. He released her and backed away, casting her a mournful look before leaving. “Alicia, I’ll wait for you.”

David’s

eyes blaze crimson instantly. “Alicia, who the hell is he? What’s between you two?”

Alicia sighed, clearly annoyed. “Since you’ve already seen it, there’s no point pretending. Whatever you and Lily have, he and I have the same.”

Only then did David truly look at her-and realize how different she’d become. She wore a square-neck mermaid dress that hugged her curves, her hair elegantly pinned up, an exquisite fan twirling lazily between her fingers. Every gesture was drenched in allure. Gone was the meticulous professional woman he used to know.

“Alicia, you’re not sick? Do you know how hard I’ve been looking for you these days?”

Alicia’s lips curved in a faint smile. “Half a month without a woman was that hard for you?”

“Alicia, listen to me, I-”

She cut him off by lifting the fan handle to tilt his chin upward. “Should I list the number of women you’ve been with these past three years, Mr. Heir? Playing the innocent boy in front of me while sleeping around behind my back-you think I can’t see through you? Did you really believe I couldn’t live without you?”

“No, Alicia, I swear-you’re the only woman I’ve ever truly loved. Those other women meant nothing; it was just… physical. After you left, I realized what you mean to me. I want to bring you to my family, as my rightful Mrs. Burton.”

Alicia tapped her fan lightly against his chest, right over his heart. “And I suppose I should be grateful for your generosity? Sorry, David, but I’ve lost interest in that heart of yours. It’s filthy.”
